Hey Fusionbang, Congrats on acquiring the beast.

Off topic: I think you have been taken for a ride here.

Service tax is applicable only on the cost of service that they offer and NOT on the Cost of goods and materials sold to the customer during the course of providing service.

(The above is applicable only if the sale and value of such goods and service is indicated separately in the invoice)

Ideally you should have paid around Rs. 300 as service tax.

Congratulations once again for the XUV!
Silver is such a nice color to maintain. The grill is looking nice with the wrap!
Planning on getting the chrome-lip as in the image that I had shared?

Would look forward to regular updates on this thread!

re: The Silver Cougar - Mahindra XUV5OO W8. EDIT: Sold!

Silver cougar visited the service center today and had a long long day waiting for the Steering alignment sensor issue. Had been for a long test drive to replicate the issue, and I was able to do so. SA informed they have done some alignment and calibration to fix the issue, and also has informed me to get it aligned & calibrated again during my 1st service.

But to my surprise after I left from the service center, I noticed that the alignment was done really bad and the car was swerving to right. Immediately I drove down to Madhu's and got the alignment corrected. I noticed that it was misaligned very badly.

Overall, was not impressed by the troubleshooting done on the issue, will wait and see if the issue occurs again.

Also bought front chrome applique and magnetic sunshades for the car, total cost came up to 2909/-. Will post pictures later, as I was tired and could not click more pics.

Couple of pics clicked randomly at Madhu's

Also cougar had a chance to put the covers on for last couple of days and this is how it looks on the car. Liked the cheetah paw's on the cover

Silver cougar's key fob got a silicon casing today and it is of decent quality. Looks good and the buttons work perfectly with the cover on.

Ordered it from Ebay

re: The Silver Cougar - Mahindra XUV5OO W8. EDIT: Sold!

Cougar spent the weekend at heavens(Chikmagalur,Karnataka) and it was a memorable time with the cheetah. Was able to test the reliability of the beast.

It was a relaxing drive even though we covered a distance of 650Kms in couple of days with all kind of roads such as slush, terrain and smooth tarmac. It has given me confidence to take the car to places where a small car finds it difficult.

Total Distance : 650 Kms
Route taken:
Onward --> Bangalore - Nelamangala - Kunigal - Channarayapatna - Arsikere - Kadur - Sakharayapatna - Chikmagalur

Return -->Took the same route while returning

Let some pictures do the talking now,

Very nice pictures of your XUV 500 with beautiful backgrounds of lush green mountains & rains. Perfect time for a weekend getaway. How did it handle on the bad roads? What was the average did it give on this trip to you?

Thanks vdm The car handled perfectly in bad roads, there was close to 7 km of bad road which we encountered in the last leg of the journey, where we had to reach the home stay, it was mix of muddy road & gravel. With 6 people on board it was a breeze to drive through those roads, but one point to be aware of here is if you go slow around 20kmph then the ride becomes bouncy. Above 20 kmph in 3rd gear it glides over the rough patches or potholes.

Average mileage was 15.6 KMPL and I think it is a good number. It should increase post first service, will keep you guys updated.

hey Sunay. once again congrats on your car. I must have been sleeping since I didnt catch your ownership thread so far. Great writeup and good choice, looks just like mine .

Also the front grill in black looks slick. that is one of the things that i want to do eventually. Currently I am happy with the stock look, rather my better half prefers it. Will wait for the freshness to wear off and then make the change.

There are so many new ownership threads coming up for XUV and I havnt even started penning mine down.

Btw regarding the cover on the keyfob. how thick is it? given that the key is already big enough, i am wondering if it gets worse with that Latex cover.

Thanks for your wishes Supertinu. Better late than never

On the front grill, I am not impressed by the work done by 3M guys, the edges are already peeling off and I am not sure when it will start looking odd on the car. If it doesn't stay put I might think of removing it completely and retain the original look with the chrome strip as your's.

Key fob is almost 2mm thick and yes when you hold it feels big. But the quality is real good and seeing many owner's having issues with the buttons, it makes sense to have this fob.

And yes I was waiting for your ownership thread and you say you haven't started still. At-least we can catch up sometime for a quick photo shoot.
