Please take an extensive TD before deciding on the car.
Thanks for your comments. As you rightly mentioned, an extended TD with wife seating at back would probably answer to my questions.

With a VGT , the configuration of the turbine housing helps the engine acceleration, the turbo's aspect ratio can be maintained at its optimum.
Hence the VGTs have a low boost threshold, and are very efficient at higher engine speeds.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

An unexpected update, courtesy - Service campaign!
Since the campaign announced had received 3 calls informing of the parts availability and to do the same at with prior appointment.

Well today had decided to go for the same. Reached the service center at 9:30 and completed the task by 11:00 am

Jobs completed - Service campaign and Smartplay software upgrade for carplay!

Understood from SA the following on the campaign.
1. All cars affected will have the caliper assembly replaced ( rear)
2. The new ones are of higher brake pressure
3. No problem as such with the old ones, a few cases low brake pressure reported (
warning light on)
4. The old parts are couriered back to Maruti Suzuki

Hi Volkman thanks for this update. Quick query- I have driven close to 700 kms in Chennai traffic and my car which is also 1.3 Zeta variant is delivering 15.3 kmpl. Should I be worried about it as my mileage seems to be on lower side when compared to yours? Should I complain on this in 1st service or is it due to my driving style? Earlier had been driving only petrol cars. Pls advise.

Hi Volkman, I have just crossed 1000 kms. I will be taking my car to the service centre tomorrow. The rev meter is always above 1200 even in idling. I wish to address this issue. Is there anything else in general that needs to be done during first service.

I had kept the tyre pressure@33psi nitrogen as mentioned on the driver door but I don't find it to be up to the task. It's mostly just 2 people travelling in the car. I will also try to increase the tyre pressure.

Did you enquire about the rust near the disc which you had mentioned earlier?

For first 1000 km drive as recommended and the FE figures will hover close to 16 km/L, post 5k km service expect a better mileage.
For a light footed driver the FE figures will be higher as the accelerator seems very sensitive. Do not change your driving style unless an abnormally low FE that you get.

Is this the right tyre pressure?
Nothing more since 1k Km is just a check of all oils etc. If yours is an Alpha/Zeta you can get the Samrtplay upgrade if applicable.

Tried 38 psi and above, felt the ride was best at 40 psi.

The idling RPM for 1.3 is 750 and 900 (with AC). If your vehicle is 1.3, 1200 RPM is way too high. I'm not sure about the 1.6 idling RPM though.

Completed the first service. They have adjusted the idling RPM. It is hovering between 850 and 900.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Hi Volkman. Glad to see your detailed regular updates.

I have a 1.3 Sigma which I have now driven for around 2000 kms returning an average FE of about 16. Was thinking of getting an oil change done. Considering that Kalyani NEXA SA is saying they will use the 0W40 oil which with the filter change will cost me around 4300 Rs, do you think its worth it ? Also please do let me know when was your first oil change done and the oil grade which is currently used in your car. As the manual says SAE 5W-30 grade is to be used which costs a fair bit lesser I am a little confused and thought of taking opinions of a few members here.

Where do you dock your car for service ?

0W40 is a fully synthetic oil and hence the higher price. Maruti does not recommend fully synthetic oils for their cars.

I have done the first oil change at 5k km though the SA was insisting to do it on 10k as recommended by MS.

As noted I have gone for the mineral oil and not the grade specified by you which is the synthetic as mentioned by Sree.

I do the service at Bimal motors.

Maruti recommends fully synthetic 5W40 engine oil for all cars with 1.3 multijet engine. I think for Baleno/S-Cross it's 5W30 though.

It was 5W40 fully synthetic oil for my SX4. Later Maruti sent a circular to dealers saying even mineral oil can be used based on customer demand. Recently my service manager told Maruti is back to fully synthetic oils for all new cars.
