Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Did the service guys replace engine air filter? Manual says cleaning every 10K KM and replacement interval is 40K KM.

No, it was just cleaned with compressed air. Cabin filter was replaced.

No issues in the this. You can manage by toggling between the 2 & 3rd gears.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

For a year's( well nearly, 2 months short) ownership decided to get the 3M treatment,

Preparation for the paint sealant treatment

Car restored to 'showroom' finish and under cover for a day ( using cover for the first time)

Today's mileage and this is is relatively less traffic- mornings or evenings a consistent Avg. of 22km/L is what it delivers,

This is cheating !!! How can you get 22+ FE in banglore kind of traffic? I get somewhere around 16-17 kmpl in Pune city traffic, which is not as bad as Banglore, at least as yet. I have tried light foot, heavy foot, big foot and what not. The FE figure just does not cross the magic figure of 20 in city. Is your office down the slope from your house?

Wish it was, but have to travel ~ 25km one way to office. Advantage is it is not an IT route that you normally hear of traffic jams, but relatively less.

But in no day I get below 20km/L though, but if you try your racing skills then the FE drops dramatically to those you mentioned!

I second Ajay here. Im pretty sure there is some kind of magic in volkman's engine or driving. My 1.6 gives nothing above 13 kmpl in Bangalore city drives. Even my highway average is less than 20 kmpl. Only sedate drives in highways give me 20+. This is unbelievable.

Haha. If that was the case, he would have to be pushing the car up the slope while on the way back

Just to prove here are the figures from yesterday's evening drive( ~5 - 6 pm) and today's morning drive ( 6:15- 7:00 am). A route covering M.G.Road - Mekhri Circle - Tumkur Road.

Ajay - The DDiS normal figures would be 20km/L +, any other values are dependent on the driver or the B2B traffic

Vigkey- when driving the DDiS320 enjoy the pinned down effect and mask the FE figures

Relax man. You don't have to prove.

If you are saying 20 kmpl is normal, then something is wrong with my S-Cross. I need to get it checked ASAP. I have never got anything more than 17 kmpl. Of course, highways are a different story, where I easily get 23-24 kmpl.

I haven't got more than 14kmpl in Bangalore City traffic ever in my 1.6. I second Volkman10 here - I normally drive around with the MID blank and simply enjoy the drive!

Having said that, since I used to drive a petrol Figo which gave 11-12kmpl mileage (of petrol, through those dark days when price difference between petrol and diesel was Rs.25) 13-14kmpl on diesel with pure unadulterated fun is a BIIIG bonus

Volkman, how do you measure the mileage, do you take note of the peak mileage the car hits or you look at the mileage at the end of the journey? I see at the end of the journey and here is what I get

City Heavy Traffic - 12-13
City Light Traffic - 15-16
Highway upto 80 kmph - 20-22
Highway above 80 kmph - 18-19
