All Maruti cars come filled with synthetic oil from factory.

Recommended grade for my Swift is actually 5W30 but all ASC's here fill 5W40 which is fully synthetic. So it should be similar for all DDiS200 engines.

Maruti has tied up with Mobil to cater synthetic oil for Maruti petrol and diesel engines at a cheaper rate to have control on ownership costs.

For diesel it is Mobil Super - 5W40 (MGDO) which costs 558 per litre and for petrol engine it is 0W20 (MGO) that costs 450 per litre.

Well today had decided to go for the same. Reached the service center at 9:30 and completed the task by 11:00 am

Jobs completed - Service campaign and Smartplay software upgrade for carplay!

Understood from SA the following on the campaign.
1. All cars affected will have the caliper assembly replaced ( rear)
2. The new ones are of higher brake pressure
3. No problem as such with the old ones, a few cases low brake pressure reported (
warning light on)
4. The old parts are couriered back to Maruti Suzuki
Hi Volkman,
The recall was only for the caplier Kit or anything else, asking because a friend who is not in this forum has a SCross and they changed his break pad and also adjusted his suspension, though the car is smooth now but he feels they have done something more than required and charged him too saying there was wear and tear because of his driving condition which he felt might be the case as he drives every weekend from Bangalore to Kerala and has already done close to 8000 kn in 2 months

Regards

The recall is only for the rear caliper assembly.

What you have described is the wear pattern on the pads based on the driving conditions.

@volkman : could you elaborate on the update on the Apple CarPlay system. Any major improvements that you notice after the upgrade?

The recall was for the brake caliper kit. But, please note: In the process, if they notice, any other issue to the vehicle, MASS will definitely address that. How a responsible Service personnel can ignore an issue they noticed during the process. Charging / Not charging for the parts depends upon the warranty.

But, replacing the brake pad for wear and tear for 8K KMs is beyond normal circumstances and if that's the case, it should have been covered under warranty.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

5w30 fully synthetic is not easily available in the market. Maruti must have recommended this to prevent customers from opting outside their service centers. I would liked to try Liqui Moly but its not available in 5w30, would email their distributor to provide the same.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Third Service update at 9540 Km

Taken an early service than the normal 10k km as will be outstation for a few weeks and did not risk an overshoot of the km reading.

Appointment fixed at 9:00 am, car delivered back at 1:00 pm.

No any complaints( window vibration when not fully closed still exist) hence the work associated was only to the service checklist.

Nice part was unlike service centers like VW, we are allowed to be with the car and oversee the job being done

Step by Step service work in Pictures,

Mileage is consistent at 20+km/l, Odometer reading at time of service.

Woah volkman10, I don't know if its the angle bro, but for a second I thought you have picked up a Brezza now!!

IMHO, one of the best set of rims on S-Cross and arguably on our forum man. The only downer I see is the cleaning bit. So many spokes can be cleaned only with some sort of pressure wash or a cart load of patience if done manually.

Brilliant FE only adds to the experience. Drive safe.

Re: Above the Ordinary : My Crossover, the Maruti S-Cross

Volkman, which brand of engine oil did they use?
PS- Good to see them using a drain bolt. It's a royal pain to unscrew once the head gets damaged. I always used to install a new drain bolt for my old Swift Diesel.

Castrol Edge -5W-30

Oil change done at 5k and 10k km.

IMO, now all manufacturers ( seen it at VW) will replace the drain plug when oil is changed.

not so soon for the next car. Will be from VAG group and there is one coming in 2018!

Thanks for the compliment on the rims. It was a painstaking job on selecting one to mask the bland looks of the car! Cleaning of these rims are not as difficult as the ones on Polo, added to the brake pad dust the VW cars generate.
