Thanks Guys; my second Corbett outing - planning to go a little off the beaten track this time around, lets see how it goes!

@suman... its about time you did that... the offbeaten track. Your beast would now be dying to go offroad... enough of flying over spead breakers and the mehrauli-gurgaon stretch.

Keep in mind the ship like turning radius and 4L.... it makes it oh-so-easy. The fat momma can crawl up a straight wall if you like.

Oh, I don't doubt that at all - my concern was more about a nice, meaty puncture while crossing a river! Somehow, I always have that nagging worry at the back of my mind about the tubed tyres. And two of them are pretty worn at the edges.

During our chandertaal trip there were times when we were facing a steep, really steep incline and I would stop and stare and Nitin. We would sheepishly look at each other "Can she do it?", engaged 4L and the way she would climb up was amazing. If its not a gravel or slippery area or sand, I would recommend 4L everytime. It'll save the clutch as well ;)

Suman Bhai congrats on your trucks half century completion.

Do more and more miles on it.

Which tyres are you planning to switch to ???

Pavan - I'm sure it's not Suman's half century that he's celebrating with such fanfare! :D

Anyway, Suman good to know the beast still works well! Let me know how the tyre upgrade goes!

dada,
you are munching miles much faster than anyone of us.

now looking forward to your tyre upgrade, keep us posted.

and if possible post the details of the suspension work.

Thanks guys - The Beast got new footwear yesterdayclap:

(Better pictures will follow later)

Deepak was kind enough to give me a really sweet price ;) and he also gave me a nice cash back for the old tyres. He had actually told me on inspection that the older set were good enough for another 5k kms in the city but on hearing that I was going out of town, he agreed that it would be a good idea getting new footwear now.

So - about 125 kms done already, liking it so far. I guess the Corbett run this weekend will give a better idea but initial impressions - road noise is less, vehicle feels nice & planted & ride has improved. I like the overall looks of the tread & the tyre. Deepak also feels that the Silicone will give an advantage as far as mileage is concerned.

Sandeep, not much of details to post - they changed the rear bushes (comes in a kit) & the rear shock absorbers, that's all. The shockers are expensive, around 3.6k a pair. I will get the front shockers changed at the 55k kms service (front bushes & arms have already been changed around 45k kms).

Nice, very nice. Enjoy the ride :D

Suman Bhai nice footwear, please put better picture from the front.

Keep us updated on the Corbett trip.

The odo crossed 55,555 kms this morning at Chanakyapuri. The Yokos have done 1,250 kms thanks to a 600+ kms round trip to Corbett last weekend. They're doing their job well so far - they are pretty silent on the highway & grip levels are good (went up 140 kmph on NH24, felt a little more planted than the earlier OEMs). Time for the 55k kms service - basically a top-up service, planning to get it done this weekend. Need to decide whether to change the front shockers or push them till 60k kms.

The Beast happily trundles on, will update (if anything of interest) once the service is done

So did you get to engage 4x4?
If so, it would be the first real 4x4 trip for your beast :)
