Suman. Excellent summary of your beast. So, the purchase of the beast is well justified now. Cheers

Sir, The roads are being ploughed by either govt officials or vehicles and the result is potholes and we are ploughing where there is no road at all

We care for others Sir and we make roads for others where they were not able to go

Thanks Harjeev, yes, with your kind of driving, I'm sure that's one regret you'll always have

Thanks Benny, that's a great one mate! The silver is looking a tad whitish, could you correct that?

Post Leh & past 65k......

Post our Leh trip, the following has been done -
  • Brake Pads were in poor shape after all those twisty descents so they were changed
  • One ABS Wheel Sensor was diagnosed as damaged (thanks to those hidden dips!!), was changed
  • The Front shocks were changed during the 65k kms service, that "tight" feel while flying over speedbreakers is back. All other suspension components were inspected & pronounced as being fine
  • Alignment was re-checked at Star Wheels in view of the above & was found to be OK
  • The Stebel Nautilus was dying a premature death - even before we set off for Leh, it was panting & wheezing. Thanks to the NCR dust & the plastic impeller, it was on its very last legs. Came back from Leh & fitted a pair of Fiamms. They sound good. I was disappointed with the Stebel because it lasted me less than six months. Comparing notes with GD, it seemed that I wasn't the only one who had this experience. Anyway, time to forget about Stebels & move on!
  • A couple of Sundays ago, the rear right power window lifter started playing up. Although Autolinks is closed on Sundays, I took a chance & landed up there - luckily a Service Advisor was there & he sent for the window expert (poor guy was sleeping peacefully on a Sunday afternoon). He temporarily fixed it (since the Store was closed) & I took it back the next day & it was changed under warranty. Its quite an expensive item - 4k including labour, thank God for E/W!
The Beast continues to return good FE, close to 11kmpl. At the moment, that's better than what my Fiesta is giving! We crossed the 66k kms mark yesterday evening, in front of Sainik Farms -

Dada,

the Temp needle is just a cent above the quarter mark.Is it normal ?

And does it hover up and down ?

Mine used to be at exact quarter mark and then after 2 years i went for Radiator flush and new collant.

After that the needle has started resting a tad above the quarter mark.

Some movement towards the half mark but not much. Yup, its normal I think. Coolant change was done at 50k kms, haven't done any radiator flushing so far.

Suman, you have a ultra cool vehicle (with respect to the temperature gauge).

Mine sits happily at a slight notch after the half mark. Did not think it was worth disturbing at all.

Mmm... so the 3ltr redlines at 3k? The 2.2 has the meter set at 4.5k. No plans of testing it though (not yet).

I remember doing 140 @ 4k on fourth. Let your run-in period end. You will see doing redlines in 2-3rd

Suman; how much did the shocks costs?

And you still on the first set of brake pads?
Waiting for the 66666 pic

Do not go by the temp guage. Its a caliberation issue, so notch here or there won't matter. If your coolant temp goes high, your service light will start blinking and vehicle will go into limp home mode.
If you still have doubts ask TASS to check it via laptop. It should be 95-98 in a warmed up vehicle.

Are you kidding me? This is a Safari, not a Honda City, remember ?
Nah, the last set didn't last very long, probably because of the Leh trip & the overuse during the descents. This is the third set.

Same understanding. The gauge is sticking onto the same spot from day 0, so that is good.

And yes, TASS did check the ECU error codes on the first service (since I complained about the ABS light making an appearance), but they said they found no error codes. I will take that as 'no error codes' at all.

I reckon tomorrow OTR will definitely see some red-lining.
