Passion Red Safari Dicor LX 4x2 - @ 15000 kms

Hi All
On 23rd Oct I finally took the delivery of DICOR LX:4x2 from BU Bhandari, Pune.(odo read 74km). The vehicle is of oct 2006 make as I had requested dealer to give me the current batch model only.
over dealership service was decent enough and no surprises at the last moment except that the steering wheel is not properly centered :(
otherwise all intruments were properly functioning to satisfaction.

Vehicle was brought with 4yr warranty
free accessories worth 10k were give by the dealer, most of which were quite usefull like
a) mud flaps b) floor mats complete set, c) fog lamps, d) tyre pressure gauge analogue with tata logo, e) waxoyl paint protect and windows filming(garware).
vehicle is with stock tube type tyres bridgestone. i didnt go for tubeless coz dealers advised against it(not sure why) so decided to honor it.fellow bhpians can comment on it.

till now, i have covered 290kms and its queit a pleasure and comfortable to drive in. i havent checked the milage, but i guess it would get better after first service. my bro-in law advised to get the engine oil changed to be done after 1500kms so that it clears off all the metal debris accumulated during runin period of the vehicle.

Pics are at http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?i...afarilxzf6.jpg

dicor owners pm me any do or donts

~

Congrats Man.The beast look nice in Red.Tubeless tyres have more advantages than the normal one. If you have a Flat tyre it is costly to fix a tubeles tyre rather than the normal one.But Tubeless tyres are going to be standard in future cars.
As far as I know apart from the cost factor nothing much to worry about.

Oh boy, its raining Safaris on Team-BHP. Whether its the price cut, SUV fascination or reviews....people are sure lining up for the Safari. Tatas volumes for this SUV have gone up like 5 fold with 1500 units a month (compared to barely 200 - 300 last year).

Congrats on your purchase. Good move with the extended warranty too.

Updated to 1100KMS

So far so good... based on calculations my lx is returning in 12.34 precisely with a half half combo of turbojet and normal diesel (BP)..

Did a voluntary oil change at 1050kms to take care of metal debri acummulated during the runnin period. costing close to 1500/-.

Few niggles are like some sqeaking noise from the rear jump seats and a sqeak squeak noise on uneven surface on uneven surface..otherwise..getting used to the handling of this massive beast especially getting the lazy left leg to work on the clutch a little faster .... electricals are so far in a good condition.. however i noticed that the driver side window rolls up a little slower than the other windows.. is that normal
bhpians from Pune.. please advise a good diesel bunk to feed my SUV.
i found that diesel from autoline hp ganeshkhind road was making my lx a bit smoky.

the only big time complaint is that It takes close to an hr to wash this thing allover(i do it once a week on early sat morn) :(. This color makes dust more visible.

but over all its a good experience.

Hi All:
Happened to go to Divayaghar from Pune last weekend thorough pune-mumbai expressway taking a exit at khopoli, joining goa highway near pen/pali mangaon road enroute to destination via bad patches and loose gravel (4 1/2 hrs one way) and found the true qualities positives and negatives about my safari.

pro's:
comfortable and agile on expressway (90-100kmph) avg.
very stable.
good fuel economy with full ac @13 approx.
very less fatigue as compared to my prev car on long trips

cons:
:to much play in the steering takes a lot of time getting used to on straight streches.
:not comfortable on tight winding turns and need to be carefull maneovering them (maybe the way its supposed to be)

overall comfortable vehicle for long trips and ac is good and keeps the lethargy which gets developed due to hot sun and wind away therefore a more comfortable journey.

Total Distance: 441KM
Persons: 2 and a dog
Fuel Consumed: 33.76

Keep the updates coming in! Been watching the Safari keenly since launch and finally picked up a 2007 DICOR EX 4x4 yesterday. Will keep this forum updated.

Can someone tell me the correct cold tyre pressures? The manual says 30 front and 35 rear. I want to make sure this is optimum.
