Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II 50k kms Update Page 1

I suggest getting WA and WB done from outside.
What is an A/C filter ?
Do you require engine flushing ? The benefits are still not clear.

@eddy: I normally try to get WA and WB done every 5k outside thanks to Pune's wondrous roads, but was out of the country for 10 months leaving the car to my wife's mercy :-) so it was a must for me right now.

Spoke to the SA and confirmed that the cost of EGR was without decarbonisation, he said that's not needed in a diesel vehicle and that 3k is the cost of just EGR cleaning.

Strut overhaul (tightening and greasing) is not covered in warranty, in case the same is faulty and needs replacement, he said he would do it under extended warranty but will determine the same during the pre delivery test drive. The steering wheel stalks for the headlights and wiper has been replaced under warranty.

Will post the actual results after I get my final bill.

Thanks again for all the responses, I must also thank team bhp for the android app and the power the forum puts into the hands of its users. :-)

Even I felt the same but he says he has printed the list from the computer which picks up the charges by default. I don't want him to screw up my service for 1500 bucks, so I'll ensure that the service is fine and then kick up a storm when he gives me the invoice.

I paid around 2300 here in MSM guindy. I guess some of these service centres are now asking around 2500 for cleaning the EGR.

I have never got my EGR cleaned in 40 thousand km. Just dont trust the service station people enough to not spoil anything. I just feel dont fix what aint broken is the funda with swift diesel and maruti after sales service.

You did 50k service for 3046 and I did my 25k for 3500. I know we might be talking about the same MASS. I paid 2700 for labor. This is pure nonsense. They didnt even do wheel bal/alignment in mine since they are really bad when it comes to that.

I have to change my shocks under warranty next week. Me planning to give it to a private service station next time. Why dont you check out Mustang motors near EMC. I used to give my Fiesta there after it clocked 50k. Very good service and very friendly. I plan to give there for my 30k service.

@Nisarg86: Tried to ask him for a cheaper price for the EGR cleaning but he didn't budge, said it's a time consuming job and this is the rate that has been fixed for it - plus he had told me the price up front and I agreed to it so can't 'undo' the work now :-)
The A/C filter is something Maruti should have put in the car in the first place, its a filter that goes into the vent opening for the A/C under the dashboard. Had read about it in these forums earlier so didn't question it too much.
My bill was almost 3 pages long but the car is whirring wonderfully (don't think a diesel engine can purr) :-)
Very happy with the service.

YOu are lucky to do 50k service for this amount. As Naveen mentioned even 25K is costing much more these days . Are you done with extended warranty?

Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II 50k kms Update Page 1

i am facing a strange problem from yesterday. my dzire(vdi) is refusing to go into 2nd/1ST gear while downshifting from 3rd or 4th. it engages only when the car completely comes to a standstill. checked with maruti people here. they said "SYNCHRONISATION RINGS" are to be replaced and they dont have it in stock. so it takes atleast 10 days to get the parts. 10 days is too much. they said similar problem reported by other dzires too in this week.

anybody faced such problems here? will it be covered under warranty/extended warranty?
my car has clocked 86000 km and it is under extended warranty.

Re: Swift Diesel, Saga continues. The DIESEL experience!Part II 50k kms Update Page 1

Yes, this was a common problem in the early batches of Swift diesel. But never heard of a dzire with a similar problem.

You might be covered under goodwill warranty, or at least a part of it, since the car has done 6000 km more than the warranty coverage.

Had mine replaced under warranty when the car was in the baby stages at around 15 thousand km. My Car used to roughly downshift into 3rd and 2nd. Did you try bleeding the clutch and seeing ? Like I find it strange that it 'suddenly' stopped downshifting in 2 gears at the same time. I mean 2 Synro rings breaking at the same time is a little hard to digest.
