Safari EX 4x4 120,000 km update

Ive had that clutch burn smell often in 4wd mode(esp 4wd low). Its not much of a concern though and its a matter of getting the technique right.

Now i finally figured out that the KHAT sound is from the suspension idler nut. On the way from Lossar to Gramphoo the 'khat' sound was tremendous. I actually was looking forward to a suspension job. Then on the good roads, there was no noise at all. So its no longer a mystery now.

hey tsk,
I believe you have upgraded your bulbs to OSRAM SILVERSTAR.
What I wanted to know is whether these are the regular yellowish bulbs with more illumination or are they white-ish? Incase, they happen to be white-ish, do they come with white light pilot bulbs?

These are normal bulbs but the light spread is more than the stock 60/55W and ditto for the intensity. These are 60/55W too.

Thank you tsk for clarifying. That means the "color" of the light is the same as a stock bulb i.e yellow?

Yes, it may be slightly "whiter" but not really noticeable.
There is no blue coating on the bulb.

She got her first major accessory upgrade today.
On the list was
1. Bull bar
2. Fog lamps
3. Reverse camera.

The destination was Karol bagh for the latter 2 and Shanker road(Bimbra) for the Bull bar.
Ankit game me this recommendation, and I must say the Bimbra chap has the best stuff.
I spoke to him on the phone and he assured me that if I did not like anything at the shop he will manufacture at the factory at gurgaon.
Wen't through many designs, but they were bulky and little crude looking full wraparound guard.
In the end 2 caught our fancy.
The carryboy type with a pipe at bottom, but that was heavy, difficult to lift with one hand, and was big.

So we decided option 2, sleeker one and very light, maybe 8kgs weight.
But the quality was top notch, with pure steel everywhere.
Infact the fog lamp guy had to spend an hour trying to drill in a hole of sufficient width!

After that we headed to Karol bagh, and I started searching for fog lamps with clear lens and reflector. Someday, budget permitting I would get rid of the H3 bulbs and fit in HIDs, so I wanted something very cheap and clear lens waterproof type, and found a pair for 1500.

Also purchased reverse camera + monitor which was 7" mounted on the RVM. Cost 4000rs, therefore within budget, and reversing her is much easier now.
All lights blazing.
I will take another picture with camera, rather than phone camera, but the lights are okay sorts. Normal brightness, and I have them aimed 20 feet from the car on the road slightly on the sides. A boon in offroad driving because the headlight spread towards the sides leaves a lot of wanting.
I have also taken care that their level does not exceed the headlight level, so overzealous cops can be kept at bay.

Tanveer the bull bar looks awesome, but, is it mounted on the chassis? Won't it screw up the crumple zone?

Thats why I chose such a light weight one.
The rod that links to chasis is pretty flimsy and I got it basically as a mount point for fog lamps.
Even the carryboy model and Tata OEM has thicker connection to the chasis.

That is good to hear. How did the dealer manage to match the pearl white? Did he have it ready? It really looks awesome. Congratulations.

Yes, they have pearl white exact match.
Really top notch fit and finish and very high quality stuff. Even the designs we did not like had really good fit and finish, there was no compromise of quality on any model.

The bull bar looks good and matching colour too, hope the crome is of good quality as its too near the ground and suceptible to rust.

Also now that they have shifted the number plate in the air path of the radiator, do you see any rise in temp/ more active fan.

Can you actually read the number standing from front, as its another excuse for the traffic cops.

Some pictures of the reverse camera also pls.
