Next the 4x4. Well its failed. Dead Nana. The entire hub locking mechanism(basically everything except the transfer case) has to be replaced. And parts are not in stock, they come from TML pune
I think this issue is due to the lack of 4x4 systems with the dealership. Basically besides broker axles and/or propellor shafts the fault is either with the automatic electric hub locks or with the transfer case. Assuming your tansfer case is working and you see the front drive shafts turning when you have the vehicle on a lift then it is a fault of the hub locks. Personally I am not a fan of electric transfer cases and electric hub locks.

I'd agree that for serious OTR this is not a desirable system, but for a tourer like myself, I find it endearingly convenient!
In two & a half years ownership, I must have engaged the 4WD on-the-fly at least 60 to 70 times! I do find it a bit of a bother to reverse a few meters to fully disengage, but I've not always done that as a priority.

The part breakage is the mechanical hub, nothing electronic about it.

@deepgautam_qa I have sent you a PM,thanks!

Sorry for questioning a less serious problem in your troubled times. Could you get the wipers replaced under warranty? Mine too have started giving the same problem.

It was a case of adjustment issues, and it was solved. I am told wipers usually last around 1.5 years. After that I plan to get bosch

TSK, sorry to note the troubles. I hope they are done to your satisfaction sooner than later.
On the pulling to the right when braked hard(as you described), I had a similiar problem initially in my Crde Scorp. The brake master cylinder (distributes the braking power to all wheels, if I am right!)replacement solved the problem. Just thought will share with you to keep you informed!

With the slider adjustment, she is doing fine on that front for now. Problem has not come back. More driving will reveal if its really done.
Meanwhile I still await parts from TML pune. If they send it by road, it will not reach due to truck strike, so I am pretty stuck for the moment

Tanveer, sorry to hear about your woes!

Have they told you whether this was a manufacturing defect or was it due to usage of 4x4 even after the "bent" pin incident?

As far as spares are concerned, most slow moving items (like differentials etc) are rarely kept in dealer's stock. The Central Warehouse in Gurgaon also runs "lean" inventory so most of it comes from the Pune facility. You should put pressure on Gurgaon Centralised Customer Care to have the part despatched by Air since there is a Truckers strike on.

Actually, the replacement should have happened when they saw bent pin, which they fixed. Its actually a manufacturing defect. I am worried that the transfer case etc., may also have issues which they may find only later. After all the suspension and the rail pressure unit has issues.

I will call up Gurgaon customer care and try to put some pressure. I called up regional office and they gave me 1800 number and I have left voicemail with my name and number, they are supposed to call me up shortly

Tanveer, is there good reason to believe that on-the-fly shifts should not be done? I have been doing these freely, though I am a bit worried now!
To be sure, M&M Scorpio dealerships also probably do not stock 4WD drivetrain components.
On-the fly shifts could also be done on the Gypsy (and I did hundreds!) though there was a rider: ONLY in straight line situations. With the Borg Warner I have been doing even at turns!

I have rarely done on the fly shifts, maybe once or twice. From what I read on online discussion forums(international), as well as told my Mr, Atul of Autolinks, on the fly shifts should be avoided in all vehicles.
However in my case I suspect that it was a manufacturing defect in the hubs.
The hub connects the front wheels to the driveshaft. Inside the hub the driveshaft gear goes in. In my vehicles case, the hub had something cracked inside it which caused it not to grip the driveshaft. It was occasionally gripping.
So when we climbed a mini mountain of sand, the rear wheels were rotating, the front was rotating in a jerky fashion.
Once they opened, and discovered the fault, after that it stopped rotating at all, as after opening the crack widened.

Meanwhile I have spoken to workshop and the part has arrived. However the Delphi guys are yet to give confirmation as to when they will come. If they are coming tomorrow, I can give vehicle today noon, and collect it on saturday morning

I go off the beaten track once a month (in Gurgaon, there are so many that one doesn't really have to hunt around) just to make sure that all is well; to be honest, I've ALWAYS engaged 4H on the fly. Yes, I do stop for 4L but never for 4H. It is a pain doing the 20-30 odd meters in reverse direction to unlock the hubs but I do that as well.

I hope you didn't misunderstand what Atul said Tanveer - 'cos when I separately cross-checked with him a couple of weeks back, he confirmed that it was absolutely OK to use shift-on-the-fly for 4H.

Suman, only about a meter of reverse is required! Max 2 to 3 meters if there is any doubt.

LOL, old age getting to me, too many zeroes I meant 2-3 odd meters! The manual recommends a minimum of three meters though.
