Hmmm... interesting. Lets try in a different- non-Shell- but reliable pump too. I am kinda sure it can take more than 45 now...

Just a query -: Has Getz D production indeed been stopped? While the hyundai sales person in bangalore said this, the customer care people in Hundai confirmed that its still in production.

Has anyone got a vehicle that was produced after the 4.99 lakhs offer was closed?

Dunno about the production date ! But yes a few vehicles are available. And a few dealers are ready to book a getz crdi too! But the HMP people in delhi have plainly refused to take booking for Getz CRDI and so many 90% of the dealers in NCR.

A few dealers were also saying that 1.3 Getz is outta production too. But im not really sure about this.

Clatter from front left- fixed

Its been a couple of days since i hear a clattering from front-right. i was tad worried coz i have upsized to 15" with 195/55 tires- and if its something bad, warranty issues may crop up.

Took the car to tire store yesterday- uncle found a balancing weight still stuck to the alloy in the front-right. he wanted me to come back sometime this week to recheck the balancing/ alignment. He wanted me to keep it under 60 as much as possible until then.

I called up my Hyundai Service Advisor, Nirmal, and told him my plight. He offered to have things fixed, and asked me to take the car to the service center this mornin, which I did. After a test drive over a rough patch, the car was lifted up to check what's wrong.

The calipers in the front-right- they were the culprit. There was some ply between the bolt and the cylindrical hole thru which the caliper is fastened. A bit of taping, and a test drive proved successful.

The mechanic advised me, in a lighter vein, to put up a good music system to not hear each and every minute sound- which got me thinking! Even if you have a good music system, turn it off and listen to the car

Rear-ended!

It was an aimless drive on the ECR early today morning. On the way back, I was about a 100 metres after taking a blind curve when two cows about 30 metres in front of me decided to test the rocket's brakes and Yoko S.Drives' grip.

They were almost on the oncoming traffic's path (no traffic in that direction), I had let go of the throttle already though. A third one that was grazing merrily on the left side of the road thinks its a good idea to follow its peers. I was under 80 by now, and 10 metres or less from the cattle. I observe an Innova in my rear-view mirror that is about 50 metres behind me- He is not in the curve, my car and the lit brake lights would be well within sight.

I come to a dead stop to let the poor cattle (was so thin, poor thing!) cross, and within 3 seconds am hearing screeching tires behind me. The Innova dude thinks am having fun with brakes or something and decides not to brake- until he is way too close to see the cow hop across. I let go off my brakes and...

BANG!

That sound made me so damn furious that I got off the car, blood boiling. The Innova has skidded for about 15 metres and hit my car. Two elderly gentlemen come off the back, but the driver stays in. They were like "turning, he didn't see... accidents happen...". I went to the driver side and asked him to step down. Lo, behold- a puny under 5.5" lad steps out. I am not well built, but this guy looked so puny that I could have been Hercules!

Damage assessment- A dent towards the top-center of the bumper, paint chippings, longish albeit mild dent from the top-middle to top-right. The right side had come out of place. The Innova had a bull bar that had bent, banging on the hood. The hood is jammed and has a dent. I don't think the internals suffered any damage though.

I pushed the right, which more or less snapped back into place. Take a second look, and the dent is not all that visible unless someone is looking for it. I have to take it to Hyundai to see what can be done without drilling a hole in my pocket (decided not to claim insurance anyways).

When I heard the BANG, I was kinda fearing for the worst- was thinking "the bumper is gone, hope no body damage...". I was relieved. I had let go off my brakes an instant before the impact, making my car jerk forward a bit when he hit me- that should have saved me from the worst.

But I didnt want to let go off that Innova driver "kid" so easily. He would have seen my brake lights from at least 50 metres, and did not brake until he is under 20 metres from me. I have been seeing him in my rear-view for 10 KM or so, and the car did not seem to be driven by an experienced highway driver- zig-zagging, no appropriate signals, cutting lanes, et all. After giving a hard time for about 15 minutes about filing an FIR, compensating me from their insurance et all, I decide to break the ice, ask them drive carefully and not allow the "kid" to drive- and drive back.

Will be taking it to my service center, and hopefully the damage is nothing more than aligning the bumper properly... Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the concerns folk Thankfully, no injuries, and the damage appears a lot less than I expected (havent checked with the Service Center- has to wait till Saturday)...

But one thing- the S.Drives on my 15" alloys do STOP this monster when required!

Dude why'd you let them get away? These guys will never learn their lesson otherwise. You should have claimed damage charges from him. I dont see why you should be claiming insurance or spending out of your own pocket when it was an accident that shouldnt have happened in the first place.
Anyway, glad that you were ok, and no major damage to the car.

Not really kindness mate- felt the damage is not substantial to go thru (and make them go thru) the pains of the process. had it been a different case, I might not have let them off!

I didnt think there is much of a cost involved in fixing it. The bumper is slightly misaligned with the wheel arch. But nothing seems to be broken. The dent seems to be either removable without much cost, or will stay for now. Paint chippings can be taken car by touch-ups, I hope... After checking the damage on the spot, I didnt think the damage is going to cost much to go through the pain of getting them pay (guestimate is under 500, hopefully)..

Thanks for your concerns guys!

I got a quote of 4k + tax at HMP for removing the dent and repainting the bumper of my verna when I was rear ended in bangalore in jan by a M800 guy.
