I'd suggest you stick with silver alloys and change them to 17" whenever you want. I had spent INR 5000 on blackening my alloys and though the paint quality was pretty awesome, I do not think it was a great VFM solution. They looked great though. I sold my 15" to another enthusiast for INR 12,500.

Saw the pics of your shark in your garage, it looks splendid and the work done is simply awesome. However, I have always felt that contrasting alloy colors will look very sporty, eg: black alloys on a white car, and white/silver radials on a dark car. But I will mark your shark as an exception

If any photoshop master can 'paint' the alloys of his civic as black in here, we can get a rough idea of how it will be.

Thank you! I agree with your point on contrasting alloys! However, one look at my new alloys and you will see how same color can match nicely! Mine are grey alloys on grey car.

Check them out in my thread. Sorry iTNerd for going OT!

I think along with the color, the shape/design of the alloys is crucial. Thats why sometimes contrasting color works and sometimes it doesnt.

Re: 133 PS of pure pleasure - new Honda Civic S (Tafeta White)

I forgot to update my ownership thread. 3 years of hassle free ownership with 28K kms on the odometer. In this midst, the last 12 months it was driving on speed-breaker city of bangalore with just 2 or 3 underbody scrapping. Now it is back in Delhi and since been used sporadically because I switched to diesel car (with a new yeti) as my primary ride. I hope to do some performance mods ahead starting with K&N filter and FFE. More soon.

Thanks. Got new alloys and tyres finally - 17" alloys (Audi A6 replicas) on 225/45 R17 Michelin Pilot Sports 3. Handling and cornering is phenomenon with the wider tyres and is very quiet just like the PLC. However, the ride quality has gone a bit harsh because of the low profile. And I dread driving over patholes filled roads. Anyway, few pictures below:

Your Car looks immaculate & would be home parked at any of the sales outlet at Honda. Those wheels & DRL's have made it smashing to look at.

Any posts comparing the Yeti's driving against the Civic?

Thanks Sheel! As for the drive comparison, the Yeti is quite a fun car to drive on its own right, due to the rev happy TDi engine. There is very minimal turbo lag and magic pull starts as early as 1700 RPM. It handles very well too and does not feel any nervousness even beyond 150 kmph. In fact, it is so stable and confident that the occupants would hardly know the speed it is in. And in rainy/wet conditions, the 4x4 kicks in and aids in keeping the car stable and going without bowing down on any obstacles.

The Civic, with fatter and premium rubber, on the other hand, is pure delight to drive on highways. And because of the low center of gravity, it hugs the roads as snail and cornering is way too fun! And believe me, once you are in the driving seat on smooth roads, it teases you to play aggressively with the gas pedal and does not always reason with your mind of sedate driving.

what do you do when you are the only one driving on the expressway?

Yes, the EPS keeps things safe. We might be getting one, the Elegance in Mato Brown. TD it & loved it.

Have no experience of the Civic, but heard its steering feel is pure joy and with those sticky rubber, it should be a hoot to drive.

I drive a Figo & can somewhat relate to what you say Others brake for turn, I go down the 'box, blip and take the corner.

Re: 133 PS of pure pleasure - new Honda Civic S (Tafeta White)

I forgot to mention, that I got DRL (its not the philip, as it didn't fit in the front skirt placing, so got a Taiwanese one). One cool thing about it is, when you switch off the engine, take out the key and lock the car, the DRL remains on/glowing for about a minute, acting like a coming/leaving home lights. I found it very useful to navigate to the lift lobby as my basement parking is not properly lighted.

I guess you meant ESP . Anyways, if you are the sort of person who does not equate size to price you pay, the Yeti is a very option, as there are no equivalent cars like it in India. Please do post an ownership report once you get it.

The steering feel with the 225 is superb. And because the rubber is the premium Michelin PS3, not much road noise and so all your hear is the VTEC node in 320 kbps bit rate

Re: 133 PS of pure pleasure - new Honda Civic S (Tafeta White)

Done 35000 kms service today.
* Changed engine oil/filter
* Clutch got hard, they applied some lubricant and it is good now
* Right fog light got fused. Replacement bulb/holder (Rs 1415)

Total cost Rs 5900.

The civic is 3 yrs and 3 months old, and hoping to keep it for at least 10 years

Looks Awesome. Civic is always the front runner in the looks department. My personal favourite. Those LEDs look brilliant.
