Urban: display shows 12-14 l/100km
Extra urban: display shows 8-10 l/100km
a 55 liter full tank returns 450-480 kms or so
that is pathetic according to me

Hmmm...my 1.8Tsi Laura gives me similar or slightly better figures and it's still in the first 1500km run-in period.

In my daily pune traffic run it shows 10.5 to 11 l/100km (computer 1).
On expressway cruising at 100 to 140 kmph showed 7 to 8 l/100 (computer 1).
The overall grand average from day 1 till date (over first 1st month and 1500 km) shows 10 l/100km (computer 2).

New Laura Elegance 1.9 TDI A/T EDIT : Customising with a VAG-COM

Hmm. So, on the 13th of August, my Laura completed exactly 13 months and 20000 kms. I'm in love with this machine. A pretty decent driver's car, good stability, luxurious interiors, decent level of gizmos, etc. for a reasonable package.

So how do i make my Laura Facelift Elegance 1.9TDI A/T better?
Get a VCDS!
So i rented out the system from a friend of a friend for a pretty good price. What did i do with it?
1) Run diagnostics to detect any fault whatsoever.
2) Activate a few extra features.

So, now my Laura Elegance is a partial L&K.
Some features i activated in the first attempt with the system:
1) Cornering Fogs (Superb style)

2) Daytime Running Lights (the small bulb in the fog lamp housing is for DRLs, looks fancy)
3) Needle sweep / Gauge sweep (as seen on Superb, Audis)
4) Auto-Lock over 16kmph /10mph
5) Auto-unlock
6) Coming Home lights
7) Changed number of flashes (lane change indicator) from 3 (standard) to 4
8) Activated warning for windscreen washer tank empty
9) Activated Hazard Braking lamps

10) Tear wipe

Features i intend to activate in the next run:
1) Horn beep confirmation for lock / unlock
2) Planning to activate Leaving home lights too
3) Want to activate left mirror tilting on reverse (but that requires memory seats!)
4) Will look at other modules to see what else i can do with this awesome device!

Till then, stay tuned and watch out for the only Laura on Mumbai roads sporting DRLs

Absolutely crazy stuff! Its like using cheat codes in a game.Really cool.
Sir,could you explain as to how exactly does it work? You just plug the diagnostic system in the ECU and alter it?

Sir? Dude, i'm as old as you!
Yeah, you just connect your laptop and play with the car's ECU. Run diagnostics or alter codings.

P.S.: This is a very risky business. If you do something wrong, you'll have a blown ECU or control module and a dead car with a repair cost of many thousands or a few lakhs.

I highly recommend to STAY AWAY unless you've got the technical know-how or get it done from someone who knows what he is doing.

No doubt this is risky business, kudos to you for pulling it off.
One thing that got me thinking is that it shows the extra features that manufactures often include in higher spec cars are there in the 1st place. All they do is change the ECu codes.Pretty interesting.

Wow, that's pure magic. Nice to know all the hidden capabilities Laura holds within itself. Congrats Akki_5 for unlocking the potential, cornering lights are truly amazing. However, the L&K headlights costs a whopping difference in price compared to other versions (Rs.9,000 for Ambiente and Elegance and Rs.25,000 for L&K). Skoda claims its due to hardware, but as can be seen, its a software tweek. What could this difference be other than Xenon in lieu of halogen bulbs? With all the VAG-COM know how, Ambiente variant holds a lot of potential to match the features of the next segment Passat, Superb and Accord with a lot less money. Great going, do update this thread with more unlocks.

Hey Akki_5, Thats cool....
I can feel how thrilled it is to have such cool features enabled...
Could you please provide the details of VAG codes changed, something like what I had posted in my earlier post on this topic....

I'll look for some more changes for sure.

Hey Akki_5 cool alternations.

My uncle owns a Laura AT and he was simply stunned to see the changes that can be done through software changes. But he was bit apprehensive after learning the risk.

Great going, please keep us updated of all the changes.

Maybe one day my uncle would agree to take the risk, then I will PM you for the details.

Drive safe. Enjoy

@v.anand Thanks! Sure, will keep this thread updated with all unlocks that i manage to pull off.
@anandbhat Thank you sir, you started this revelation. I'm simply following your footsteps.
@panks15 Sure, just tell me a week in advance, so that i can arrange for the cable.
@anshuman Thanks. The details are too technical and will need a knowledge of the software. If interested, PM me.

@anandbhat Yeah, but remember that the codes for the facelift and pre-facelift are VERY different. There is no central convenience module 46 for the facelift which is of primary importance for pre-facelift Laura.

Hey, this is wonderful stuff.
Congrats.

I would surely like to enable this stuff for my Laura. Let's see who can do it in Pune...
Any clue?
