Canonball -

The reason mine is with a bent pipe is that the power steering oil container was in the way, if i had put it like Samurai's santro.
My cars still in warranty and didn't want to void it by moving the Power steering oil container. Plus the filter i bought is too big to fit even if i move the oil container.

Secondly, my bent intake design, sits near the exhaust shield. even though the grill is right in front and while driving it will mostly suck cold air from the grill, but in traffic, its most likely taking hot air from the radiator fan and exhaust shield.
But i had no other choice.

For Vampire -
My 2008 santro the intake connection to the rubber fitting, diameter is different from Samurai's santro.

Samurai, what yr is your santro?

Vampire, You will have to take care of the rubber diameter. I suggest since you have 2 design options now, you get this fabricated in Kolkata itself.

I have a friend who has an automech exhaust in his santro and it sounds really nice. Will try to post a video of the same. Sounds really crisp and neat !

Moving that took 10 minutes, but I doubt that will void any warranties. However, putting Universal K&N would surely void warranty.

That's why when ever my car goes to A.S.S, i put back the original filter n box. Worked for me so far through 3 services.
Even my tacho comes out and 2 holes are covered by a small laughing Buddha.

so far my warranty is intact.

Cold air/ Fresh air is not better for the car! INfact cold air is bad

gUYS

I have read this in not only one but many threads in t-bhp regarding hot and cold air into the intake and how people want to give a trunking from such a place where outside "FRESH, COLD " air comes in and so on and so forth.
Guys I deal a lot with IC engines and here are my comments which are checked and rechecked and proved and written, so there's no ambiguity about it. Still being relatively junior(both age and date of joining ) in this forum I would request for experts comments/views.

1. Hot air intake is better than cold air intake because you are loosing out on thermal efficiency.
argument to this might be hot air is lighter than cold air so compression ratio achieved would be compromised.
In comparison to both it has been proved that air intake to the engine is best at 35-40 degrees
So the whole issue of cold air from outside is not quite justified

2. Fresh air : or more oxygenated air. our atmosphere (by god gracE) is 20.9% oxygen (lets hope the UN international climate conference can contribute in maintaining this). And in a typical combustion cycle not even 40% of that is used. (Please note :turbocharging etc is not for allowing a higher oxygen percentage in fuel but achieving a greater compression pressure)
trust me when i say even if you let in the car exhaust into the inlet of the engine the same air can be utilized for 2-3cycles. So fresh air is is not valid either.

The only cause I believe with my teeny weeny brain to have a trunking to the front of the car is it helps in forced induction to some extent cause when you raise the speed of the car the air also is blowing towards you at that much speed. But again guys this is a real lame explanation or finding a needle in a haystack sorta argument cause it would probably improve your car's performance by 1/10th of a percent that too if you are lucky.

regards

PS: Seniors and other IC/car experts please advise if mistaken

Hey folks, My parents have a 2006 Santro Xing XO.

I am here in the US and was wondering what performance parts I can get here that would fit the Santro.

Also, I heard that Hyundai dealers in India will not sell replacements parts to an individual. Is that true? So if I have to change simple things like the air filter in my dad's car. I have drop the car at the dealer do it?

(Any dealer or place in chennai that will sell Santro OEM parts?)

thx

The latest addition to my Santro is now a front centre armrest.

Time - 4 hrs.
Total cost - metal was 200 and leatherwork was 100.
Idea was mine but not a DIY.

Hyundai Santro Mods thread

To begin with I tried searching for this thread but could not find it(I might be wrong) !!

Hyundai Santro might not be the most stunning Car on Indian Road but I am pretty sure many people would agree that it's one of the most Practical Peppy Car!
Modifying Santro may not be the Biggest crowd puller but we Owners know its one of the prettiest Hatches to own. I would love to know and most importantly see all those proud owner's modified rides on this thread.

No Mod can be "TOO LITTLE, TOO LESS" !

Every Moded Santro deserves a !

Here are few of my Sunshine Ride

Hey Rocker thank you for that buddy, as I posted earlier I had probably missed some of the "Right" search criteria to find a similar post!!

But Guess what mate, I did go through the entire thread and realized that most of it was pure discussion and review!

Personally I believe that one of the most Trustworthy sense for all the Petrol Heads is "Eyesight". So guys, lets all please our vision by posting some PIC of our Santro's here.

I Just can't wait to see Some Santro Pics on TBHP now!!
