Best is to go with the Rear View Camera, it makes life easy to park at any place. We have factory fitted on our Safari VX and it is so easy to park this huge vehicle at all places.

Camera is better than the sensors, sensors make noise and irritates while parking as soon as it finds some obstruction within the limited range.

The system is from RD. That would be Rajat Deep Overseas Pvt Ltd. Though not specifically mentioned, the manual says that distance less than 0.3 metres is not displayed. So I assume a minimum of 0.3 metres.

Yup that's an RD. Its Rajatdeep Overseas Pvt Ltd. Check out the previous replies on this forum to get more details. Have been using one myself (was endorsed to me by the car dealership) from where I took the delivery. Am pretty happy with it. Professional install job and courteous service center(came on 7.30 PM on a Sunday eve to correct one of the hassles I was having). Take a look at more range at Automobile Accessories, Car Accessories India, RD, RD brand car accessories, Nano Car, Maruti Car, Mahindra Car, Honda Car, GM Car, Alto Car, Skoda Car, Tata Car, Hyundai Car, Toyota, Reverse Parking Sensors, Power Windows, Auto Window Closers, Car C.

Hope this helps.

@ Srikant, you can Speak with Mr.Arun Thakur (DGM Sales) of RD on 9810201234. I think they have a distributor in Bangalore as well as Kerela (as confirmed by their website Automobile Accessories, Car Accessories India, RD, RD brand car accessories, Nano Car, Maruti Car, Mahindra Car, Honda Car, GM Car, Alto Car, Skoda Car, Tata Car, Hyundai Car, Toyota, Reverse Parking Sensors, Power Windows, Auto Window Closers, Car C). Seek more details from him. You can also try online query form.

Thanks

PS: its a Delhi number

Personally I feel its otherwise, in Indian condition. With Camera I will have to keep looking at the view while reversing. While in case of sensors I can adjust looking at ORVM, RVM etc and take the assistance from voice alerts.

I guess purely personal

It would be a neat idea to have a recording system for the camera.
Some kind of a cyclic looper that stores the last 30 minutes. And its always on.

This way if you get rear-ended.
The rear ender will not know what hit him.

when you provide proof of his/her mistake.

@ srikant, if its only the camera you are going for, my delhi exp tells me you can get almost 250-350 bucks off 3200 price you have quoted. tell shopkeeper a friend got it for a certain price. Surely gonna work

Btw, this RD camera as seen on Automobile Accessories, Car Accessories India, RD, RD brand car accessories, Nano Car, Maruti Car, Mahindra Car, Honda Car, GM Car, Alto Car, Skoda Car, Tata Car, Hyundai Car, Toyota, Reverse Parking Sensors, Power Windows, Auto Window Closers, Car C is a nightvision CCD camera which are currently the best available in India. I saw a company with more advanced thermal imaging camera but that's more life meant for defence installation due to the price factor.

If you find a cheaper alternative, make sure its not the cmos camera.

That mirror seems to be stable without doing anything. It never changed its position in a 320kms drive today.

And at last I took a reverse when it was dark and the night vision indeed works!

Reverse parking system for Altis

Hello,
The dealer has offered some free accessories, for my new Altis G, including a RedSoul 4-senser reverse parking system with digital (distance) display. According to him this will be fitted on to the left of the dashboard.

My questions are :
1) Is RedSoul a good brand?
2) Does it make sense to go for a 6" DVD display version with camera? - costs ~18K according to him. Or is this something that SUV/MUVs only will need? I do not intend to play DVDs while driving.

Thanks for the help (Hope I am posting at the right place)

Cheers,
Ajith

True, RedSoul has 0.3m range. At this gap, there is barely enough space for a person to squeez thru'.

I have it for over a year - always worked.

BTW, their showroom is in Basavanagudi, opposite to Krishna Rao park. Google map here.
Website: Welcome to RedSoul. You can avoid dealer's cut, if you directly buy from them.
