Re: Comprehensive guide to LED Headlight upgrades

Hi @Vignesh Vee..thanks for your very useful post. Couple of questions..

1. How much did it cost you ?
2. Where did you purchase it from ?
3. Will it fit into my scope rapid rider 2020 ?

Many Thanks

The reason why I bought these bulbs is because of their 3500K color temperature (the same as halogens) and direct fitment, which prevents alignment problems.

What was the wattage of the halogen bulbs you had before? I'm trying to figure out if 20W LEDs are brighter than 50W Halogens

I am running 16w ultinon g2 which i found on par with Philips Xtreme vision high output 55w which was a decent upgrade from stock halogens

Never cut/drill the dust covers. Not just moisture but dust will also enter.
If the oem dust cover touches the led then get bigger silicon dust covers, i bought from auxbeam india for ~₹450/pair

Looks promising, especially since it has 3500k "halogen like" color temp.
Is it a direct fit for the Hycross (since the car already has an LED setup)?

I purchased this from Amazon for 5199 rupees. Yes, it will fit on the Rapid Rider. Choose the H4 socket variant.

Yes, it will be suitable. Check the type of socket in your car before purchasing.
Since your car has white color lights, you can go with 6000K Philips Ultinon Access direct fit LEDs.

Thanks.

Re: Comprehensive guide to LED Headlight upgrades

Hey everyone, I needed a suggestion

I have a 2018 Ciaz as my daily driver. Recently I decided to upgrade the headlamps from company fitted halogens to LED, however, a few people created a doubt in my mind that it might require wire cutting and addition of some new components.

Can you please let me know if there is a way I can get it done without wire cutting? Also some suggestions about good car accessory shops in Delhi are welcome

I believe your car has one H7 bulb for high beam and one H7 bulb for low beam with low beam being projectors.
LEDs are a very easy, plug and play installs for the most part which doesn't require any wire cutting and directly draws power from the socket. It is a pretty easy affair too unless the bulb you are replacing with doesn't accomodate inside the dust shield.

For the bulbs I suggest getting 50-55 W 4300k temperature ones even though they are scarce. 6000k ones which are widely available are cheaper but cause glare and are bad in the rain (from personal experience)

Also LED bulbs inside projectors may not work as well as in a regular reflector housing. Perhaps other BHPians can shed light on why this is so.

Re: Comprehensive guide to LED Headlight upgrades

I am looking to replace the brake light and reverse light of XUV700

For LED Brake Light bulbs, Socket is 1156 P21W
For Reverse Light bulbs, Socket is T15 W16W

I found a matching product from Osram but am yet to find a retailer selling it here.

Any other suggestion on what to use and where to get it from. Thanks.

I checked these out. On the product page it mentions that the life of these bulbs is UP TO 1500 hours only !
That seems quite low for an LED bulb. Obviously I didn't expect the usual 35-50000 hr rating of LEDs in other applications due to the extreme conditions and compromised cooling of headlights so I did a bit of research.
For other bulbs, the rated lifespan seems to be in the 2500-5000 hour range. The shady bulbs obviously state a full 50000 hrs but I'm not inclined to believe them.
So all things considered these bulbs still have lower life vs othe LED bulbs but the warm white colour is a good enough counterpoint to them. IMO they would be great in fog lamps where usage is lower.

I had plans to upgrade to the the weathervision LED but then gave up the plan because there was no clarity weather the bulbs has both high and low beam. So, purchased Racingvision Gt200 from amazon. But totally disappointed with the brightness. May be I'll wait for the next amazon sale and get the weathervision LED now that you've clarified that it has both high & low beam. Thanks!

Re: Comprehensive guide to LED Headlight upgrades

Hello all,
Yaris 2018 Top-End variant. Attached stock image for a review.

What would be a good upgrade for my projector headlamps and the company fitted fog lamps. I'm 80% highway driving out of which 30% is night driving.

Hi,

After having experimented with different solutions here are a few options you may want to consider:

1. If your projector supports normal bulbs (H8/H11/HB3/HB4) I'd suggest you get a auxbeam 240W GX ultra from aux beam website. Been using it on the highbeam of my Honda city GM6 and it's been really great.

2. If you want to consider more drastic measures of retrofitting, get the AES LS850 Headlamp retrofit projector.

3. For foglamps, consider the AES F75 bi-laser projector. Covers both width and has great forward visibility in high beams.

Hope this helps !

Hi

You might want to try the autobahn technologies website for some high quality bulbs. Have used various indicator / tail light bulbs from them and not been disappointed yet (going on 2 years)
