Something like this below mentioned link would be a better option. The H4 has a shield and would give a good cut off line which is very much needed.

These bulbs dont have that tiny glare shield and plus they are those Cree with lenses type of bulb. I bought them before any of these LED threads on TeamBHP especially Vid's on experimenting on his ecosport.

I guess I will have to experiment with the CSP in line type with the tiny glare shield ones which mimics the standard halogens. Anybody know a particular model which could suit the Cruze well?

Yea this is just a result of a poor LED light design. Just 3 LEDs with no clear cut off shields is the culprit. I have already give you few suggestions in earlier post. Look at those and pick something the lines.

For fog lamps a wide flood beam would be ideal. I have older COB type H11 LED bulbs fitted in my fog lamps. The COB placement in them causes the light to shine brightly on the sides of the reflector, creating a wide flood beam that illuminates the whole width of the road, while having minimal glare to oncoming traffic.

No shield, uses the dome type array LED and some weird 3 LEd pattern. No wonder you are seeing no difference between low and high beam and no low beam cut off. The light is just everywhere!

Haha thanks guys, the light pattern is indeed terrible.

I am getting the LEDs replaced by the seller with the one with a clear shield in the bulb.

Will update once I get the new pair.

1st gen Figo's fogs have a good spread but dont go far. I am planning on upgrading on mine just to have consistent color with headlights. But to get good throw you need to rely on main headlights. In my view you should be able to fit a H4 inside the headlight assembly. I have done it on my car, shown in pics.

If the Figo uses the same fog lamps as Ecosport, the fogs can be adjusted for height using the rotating knob/dial. I aligned my fogs slightly higher and they are now just a little below the low beam.

But you have to remember the Ecosport fog lamp housing is very high up, so it works. In the Figo it is lower down so the shadows on the road will be more.

In essence you can add fogs to supplement the headlights, but you need to upgrade the headlights for sure if you are not happy with the illumination.

INteresting, let me see if FIgo's fogs can be raised a bit. As you mentioned they are so far down that they can only manage so much.

For fogs I will prefer the 2700K HIDs any ay. I have 3000K 55W HIDs in my Civic. The only regret is that I should have opted for 2700K.

Something here doesn't make sense. 3000K bulbs with 55W ballasts will actually be whiter light due to higher current than 3000K bulb with 35W.

That said I got 35W 4300K HID's on my fogs and they are perfect. IT has the right temperature of white with a tinge of yellow.

Need to compare with 3000K though.

Well the 3000K/55W bulbs will be somewhat brighter than 2700K/35 lamps.

I will not risk 4300K due to the colder colour, ie more fog disruptions. I bought 3000K as recommended but realised that 2700K would have been better. Of course there is a school of thought that colour temperature is irrelevant (I do not agree). Maybe you are not in a fog prone area as I am.(Bengaluru is not as bad as Kanpur).

+ great visibility at night
+ insane spread and uniformity
+super fast on and off.
+insanely good for high beam
+fog lights do most of the heavy lifting. Low beam is just a formality.

Negatives
+cutoff line more visible in xenon
+special alignment needed. I need to align my low beam to use it better. The high beam lights up the road like day and so do the fogs. I must align the low beam for the area in the middle.
+visibility poor to abysmal in street lights due to the temperature
