When they called up to confirm my order (475/- Garmin Maps) today, they said it is microSD only, they stopped supplying SD adapter. I don't mind because my Nuvi is small-screen, but otherwise you can buy an adapter for 50/- ... or check your drawer, you might discover one (came with your mobile phone's microSD card).

Placed my order at *checks email* 12:18pm.
Received the confirmation call at *checks mobile call list* 2:44pm.
Did not check order status afterwards but the nice lady who called told me they'll ship the microsd card today itself and going to reach me in 2/3 days.

Thanks geeta, The coupon code worked and I have placed an order windows OS maps. Interestingly I send them an email before placing the order enquiring the memory card compatiblity for GOGO GPS PND and they have replied that map will be provided on a SD card.

A call to customer care should fix that. I ordered Garmin maps, they sent an email link to download maps and sent a CD with maps for Windows devices (destinator format).

I called Customer support and was told to copy the "oneIndia" folder directly to existing Micro SD. The new map is available now on the PND for use.

The installation instructions that was provided with the CD did not work.

Hello, Just out of curiosity I am wondering if we could copy the content from micro sd card on to computer and then copy same version to some other sd card and use the same with multiple devices. Is it possible or if there is some hardware or software lock on these micro sd cards which refrains them from being copied.

Yes, every SD card has a unique hardware ID. Maps are tied to that hardware ID.

If you copy maps to a different SD card, it would not work unless you provide unlock code. SD card that is shipped by provider already has this code in a file.

I remember trying to copy the contents from a 1GB card to 8GB Card for the same PND device. Even after trying with the unlock code provided in the file it did not work. I tried formating the microSD with both FAT anf FAT32, but no luck.

Thanks for the details. It was helpful to know the process.

I see, so it seems like one has to buy it for each device separately if someone owns more than one device in family.

That is expected.

Unlock code is tied to specific SD card and would not work with other cards even on the same PND. However, if you call customer care, they might be willing to send you another code for the larger card.

Unlock micro SD card

You can try formatting via phone. If you put "allow remote lock code" in your phone option and lock your phone with SMS. The password you put as remote lock code will unlock the micro SD card.

To activate this feature please follow :
Tools ->Settings ->Security ->Phone & SIM -> Allow remote lock

The map will be locked by SD card's ID, and not the locking password of the card. So even if you unlock the card, the ID remains the same and map sticks to card only.
