Its not my car Kevin. It belongs to Bass&Trouble's company. The seats are made in Bombay for something like 10k and are brilliant in finish. The bottle is of Glenfieddich single malt. Its a nice whiskey .

Some serious tuning, anyone?

Came across a site who specialize in Weber / Marelli systems (ECU). They have a wide range of products (Expensive but worth a consideration). The Palio ECU is - 32 Bit IAW 4EF EURO 3 - EOBD.

Check - RP Lab - Weber Marelli IAW specialists .

Check these pics of a blue MKraft Palio. Amazing design and not least bit overdone. The car had 4-spoke Lenso wheels earlier but has changed now. The paint job and the body kit is really amazing.

a tech perspective @ more efficient intake and exhaust!

if the cat is restrictive, and then u discard it!
plus u drive at full throttle <wide open throttle>at max torque rpm, then it will significantly increase the charge density.
1> place the engine on the heavy load ..
2> we need additional fuel to just cool off the the internal components...<and lambda wont allow it>
3> cool dense atmosphere too will produce knock,
4> in simillar veins adding an efficient 'cold air'or ram air <if they really work>could produce a knock.
5> a big drop in humidity can still produce a knock.
6>and yes more efficient exhaust could cause a knock...less ununscavanged exhaust gas increases charge density..but less exhaust gas is less corruptionof the combustion flame through the the mixture. more flame speed can lead to an excessivelyrapid cylinder pressure rise ... out od control combustion -detonation...
7> its all a delicate balance a slight increase in charge temp or charge density is not a problem .. but a big increase will call for much more octane fuel.
like wisea small decrease in both charge humidity and increase in charge temp will require more octane too!
8>and prey that ur engine has a knock sensor .. which works .. and hopefully ecu manages the knock control by adding extra fuel .. not by spark retard as it will cut off the benifits of all the extra things....and will not produce extra power.
then when u r off the wide open throttle with high octane fuel... as the inherent properties of the more complex chains of hc in those fuels .. the performance and fuel efficiency will SURELY drop .
.........sorry but this is what current limitations of common man's auto engines ....and mnagement systems ........

so in retrospect, what you are saying is that the engine doesnt respond too well to intake and exhaust mods.is that right?

hi

....it says that if the engine+management system do not have reserves designed in it and the range of adjustments are small <less than demanded by the tunning changes>,
then at least it wont help u at alll
at the most it can damage the engines in seconds!!
the fuel pressure, injector pusle width at or near the max duty cycle ..may create additional problems ,
plus if the engine weight to power ratio and gear ratio are on taller side, then engine will stay longer in the danger zone for long enough to cause additional damage .
in short
one has to strengthen just the weakest link in the chain one at a time .. success will be definately slow.. but chances of -outright failure with heap of causes to blame -will be less

Palio Mods

Hi this is Kamal from chennai got a palio 1.2 elx. Need some information on upgrades.

In this forum i learnt so many things but some points i did not understand. I have seen some posts that i can go with my car for FFE from automech and some other posts is for n1 engg (I want to this company sells it). if they sell i want to know which one is better than the given two options.

One more thing who is my moderator. How can i find him.

Moderators are common for the forum. You dont have to find 'your' moderator. (AFAIK)

Hi Adalanthae, welcome to the forum. To answer your queries, I will recommend you to find out a guy in Chennai who can do a FFE for you. There is a lot of expertise in Chennai and I am sure they can do a better job than N1 and Automech. Contact Nitrous, Sideways, esteem_lover who are quite helpful members from your side of the country. Let us know how it goes.

there is nothing of this sort here. You don't need to find him. He will find you once you goof up!

Thanx Moralfibre..

Hi Nitrous,

Thanks for buzzing me.. I have a palio 1.2 elx 2002 model. I need went to some two shops who sell FFE for palio the one automech (Motor Image in Valluvar Kottam) & N1 Engg (Speedworks in Nungambakkam). I want to know which one would be the best or there are any guys who are available in chennai so that i can go to them and check it out.

I need a explanation is FFE is worth in Palio.

These two guys have told me the parts to be changed to get the good job.

1. K & N Filter
2. OWS Spark Plugs
3. FFE (Full Kit)
4. Synt Oil for Engine.

I wanted to know if these are going to worth or not.

I want some info regarding cat con also. I dont know what is means exactly. People say that the FFE would leak or rust due to some issues.

Can u explain on these before i spend on.
