Looks fab dude, though will have to agree that we need to loose the BMW sticker ASAP.

Kudos to you for maintaining this beauty with such passion and dedication.

Re: Contessa Classic

The Late Shri Balasaheb Thackerey's first bullet proof car, a 1995 Contessa. The car's registration number represents its model year. The car is parked at the Shiv Sena hqs as memorabilia of the Late Shiv Sena leader.

Re: Contessa Classic

A long time wish of owning a Conti is finally turning to reality.
Found a well maintained Conti in Bangalore recently on TBHP classified.
But before I could have a look someone else paid the advance and booked it. Has anyone come across this conti?

I was disappointed. Stopped looking for conti’s.
After 3 weeks or so got a message from seller that the old booking got cancelled and car is still open for sale. Without wasting much time had
a look at it and drove around for some kilometers.

Looked fine to me, though I am not an expert on old generation cars. Some minor work needs to be done but this is inevitable in a car which is 20years old. So, was ok with it.

Bought it now and waiting till next week to get her home. Paper work is on. Here are some photos 1995 make, 1.8GL HM Contessa.
Has a new FC, Life tax paid and documents look clean.

The Contessa is one of those cars that, to my eyes, command a lot of respect. This example looks to be immaculately maintained. Kudos to the previous owner for all the time, money and efforts put in for this. Wish you a long and happy ownership.

BTW, are these nearby Ramoji film city? Pardon my ignorance but have seen a couple of films shot there having these red Conti convertibles.

No, this is the city centre. ( near Abids ).

The reason of cutting off the roofs is to use these cars during marriage processions and other social engagements.

Yes, it looks sad but I think its more than the best these cars could have asked for.

Re: Contessa Classic

Having a peculiar problem - when reversing the car, it resists to roll. The rolling is perfectly ok going forward but in reverse, it feels like your are pushing the car with the brakes on.
Could it be the problem with rear brake drums or int he transmission?

Re: Contessa Classic

Hi guys, need some advice regarding conversion of points ignition into an electronic one, basically a multipoint one in my 1.8 carb engine. is it possible with parts available locally? Currently my distributor has single magnetic type sensor with two wires going to the coil.

Check the rear brake slave cylinders, mostlikely they are seized. Happens with all cars when people dont change brake fluid regularly

Re: Contessa Classic

As the plug wire for 1st cylinder was lopping too close to the exhaust manifold, it had scraped itself of some insulation. I did a temporary job with an insulation tape and the car was running fine but still was not happy at the back of my mind. So just sourced new plug wires for my vehicle. Was lucky to find OE spares locally and surprised that they are BOUGICORD make cables from France.
