Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

Yamaha has pulled another ace up their sleeve, this time with the design! Now thats a proper looking entry level sports bike!

Dont know if the rear tyre still spoils the party, but the rear tyre hugger defenitly does, as in the P135. But most people would be removing it anyway!

Bikeadvice, who has revealed the pic claims- "22 PS of power, new Headlamps and LED tail Lamps, Split seats, New alloy wheel design, a revamped ECU, rear wheel hugger and an overall fresh look."

Looks like picture is taken from their assembly line. They should have masked his face!

The tyre hugger can be functional during Mumbai rains, but it pulls down the looks of the vehicle for sure. The rear tyre seems to be 140 similar to that of an FZ. 22 PS not bad, have to wait and watch the pricing.

22PS of power?
wonder what state of tune its going to be,its too much for a 150CC single.
i like it,the tyre hugger looks hideous though.
After a ride on the CBR250,i can say, that this is going to be a much better option.

Well, the rear looks the part now. Rear tire seems fatter too. But that power figure (if actual) is stunning. Damn, it'll be a hoot to ride. The tire hugger doesn't look too bad. And lastly, the exhaust size fits the bike nicely. The current one looks gigantic.

140? From the pic, i think its more of a 110/ 120. Definitly doesnt look wide enough for a 140!

Sad, but the guy may have to look for another job. The pic has been circulated real fast in most forums.

The bike looks good. The riding position seems to have changed with increased seat height, it may seem so because of the split seats.

I am surprised to see 22 PS. If true, it can provide serious competition to CBR250 without substantial increase in current price.

I hope the low end/ mid end power is also better, making it more suitable for city use.

re: Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

could be a 110/120, but it is close enough for me. Been a FZ owner for over 2 years now and love the bike. The only mod that I wanted to do was to get discs on my rear wheel, but was not so convinced with the fabrication options mentioned on other threads. But with the new R15 has got my hopes up, to get that rear rim fitted on my ride.

22 PS from a 150cc single sounds almost like a two-stroke stinker. If the japs have pulled it off then god save the new-born CBR and the P220. I like the way this segment is heating up. Now only if that Ninja price-cut rumour turns out to be true! Yum Yum Yum.

Thank god they have finally gotten rid of that hideous looking tail of the previous R15. The new tail lamp looks hot and a R6 wannabe. I doubt the rear footwear is a 140. Looks more like a 120 to me.

Hmmm. Looks pretty good! But split seat seems too split up, the height difference between the front and rear is insane! The rear tyre hugger looks pathetic, but is necesary in wet conditions. 22ps of power is a lot! Wonder how the pricing will be though. The rear tires didn't necessarily need to be changed the previous ones were fine. But heck, the consumer wanted it, the company granted it!

If the news are true about the power and the way it looks, CBR 250R beware, you have someone who can kill you instantly.

I am waiting desperately to see this bike in person and would want to buy it asap. Will be a good upgrade to my 220 DTS Fi

Bodywork looks like it was donated from the Euro market R125. 22 PS you can get only with larger displacement, not with 150 cc.

re: Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

I am not happy with the fairing design, the current one looks so fine. And I highly doubt if this 150 cc engine would ever produce 22PS. May be they are increasing the engine capacity to 200 CC. Alloy design is looking good though. The rear seat is way too high positioned, how one will sit on that. There are no grab rails either. If this is not a modification job then it is bad news for CBR.

2012 R15 looks Fab !! This one looks like a proper baby R6 . Rear Tyre Hugger is necessary for a tropical rainy climate like ours , you will not look so cool on your bike when the person behind you who is covered in muck because of your exposed rear tyre , catches up with you to give you a mouthful of gaalis , just like I do to autorickshaw wallas riding around without a mud flap on their rear wheels ... 22 ps from a 150cc - good numbers. Go Yamaha Go !!

OMG! This is so damn sexy. With 22PS power, I guess this will be my next upgrade which is due in a few months. The only thing that keeps me interested in another bike is ABS offered by Apache.
