re: Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

now thats a royal upgrade done by Yamaha. I had been contemplating getting a bigger bike for some time now (I ride a 06 Gladiator) and didnt want to shift bases from Yamaha. It looks like i dont have to do it now. Next thing is to visit Yamaha Plaza in Infantry road and get a sweet exchange deal.

Now coming to the pic:

1> Is the black bike in the background a diff one? (height/ size of petrol tank seems different). it looks beefy.
2> has the handle height been increased/ seat height decreased? (I see a comfortable seating geometry compared to the crouched position in the existing model)

Responses please fellas!! I hope that guy doesnt loose his job, since the pic doesnt seems to be an official teaser meant to be floaten, rather a pose one.

Abhishek

re: Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

This bike sure looks good compared to the current one, and if the power is 22 BHP, it may actually be faster than the Honda 250 with a light rider, but what about people like me, 6ft and 100kgs plus? when will these manifacturers realise that all Indians are not 5.6 ft in height and weigh about 60-65 kgs.

Anyone else feel the lettering is not R'1'5? Although the pic is blurred, zoomed in pic doesnt seem to look like a 1 in there!

Hopefully, Yamaha has a bigger engine in this one, and places it directly against the CBR250R.

I can't belive a 150cc making 22 bhp !!, bike looks great.but the rear tyre hugger looks yuck. feel bad about the guy posing on it. bring in a 250 cc Fazer at the right prize.

I hope this is not some photo taken in abroad training facility for Indian Yamaha mechanics. Bike looks really awesome and hope everything is true about it such as 22ps power and Indian launch.

Though the upgrade looks promising, a lot will depend on pricing.

What's the price difference between current R15 and CBR 250R? ~ 30-40K? If Yamaha maintains the current price and considering they manage to get 22PS from 150cc, which I really doubt, and if at all someone wants to buy a single cylinder sports bike, Isn't CBR 250R a better bet?

Somehow to me R15 looks like a miniature sports bike!!

This is going to be a great news.22 ps on a R15 is a rocket.Just doubtful on the pricing front.i really doubt whether they'll deliver the bke for the current price.Well if it is so this will sell like hot cake.

If I remember correctly, the same website said that Yamaha might price it 10k cheaper. If this is true then Honda guys will look dumb.

And if all this is true, we are lucky.

After looking at the pics, including the claim of 22ps on a 150cc engine and ignoring the "Ugly" tyre hugger. All I have to say is, "Welcome Back Yamaha!!"

Very skeptic on a 150cc engine shooting out 22PS, more than likely they've upped the engine to 200cc to match with the Pulsar.
If it does have a larger engine, I wouldn't even mind if they increase the price by maybe 10K.

Looks like I'll have to delay purchasing a bike until more details on this are released.
Better to have a little patience than buy a bike now and regret it later.

The bike looks great. Side view of the front part is really stunning, the tyre hugging mud guard is a bit turn off though.

Regarding the power output, I doubt if it is really 22PS for a 150CC engine. Either the power output of 22PS is not true or they have increased the engine size to around 200CC.It will require a lot(I would say insane amount) of tuning and tweaking to get 22PS from a 150CC engine.

Why are the still flogging this 150cc moped? What they need to do is put a water cooled 25 bhp 250cc mill in the FZ and give Honda run for their money.

Because the 150cc 'moped' has built quite a big fan following in India, and has been bringing the numbers for Yamaha as well!

If this is the R15 at the same price level, sales will increased by 100% IMO.

250cc FZ based bike is confirmed for this year, as per the news in other forums.

i like it,the tyre hugger looks hideous though.
After a ride on the CBR250,i can say, that this is going to be a much better option.
I am surprised you didn't like CBR, any particular trait which you didn't like in Ceeber ?

Infact I found it relatively better in terms of riding position/power delivery/engine response and loads of torque available as compared to current R15.
