re: Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

i went to a yamaha showroom a few days back enquired regarding the R15 (current), its price and all. and then i asked when will the new R15 be released. he said theres no new R15 coming. asked me where did i hear such news from. i said its all over the internet, the pics etc. that the new one will have more power, 22bhp as opposed to 17 of the current version. he went silent.... then he added its got bigger tyre as well. which i didn't know at that time... he had no idea of the release date, at least what he told me.
also, price will be higher than the current version, that he said will surely be so.

re: Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

The engine coming in black is a slight surprise as I thought only Yamaha wouldn't fall prey to the All Black marketing strategy. And as sriram said, there seem to be only 2 digits after the R in the last spy pic, so R15 is what I'd say. And yes, the bike looks stunning from Side Profile, but reasonable to say the last when viewed from the back. The power seems to be questionable, but heck the top end on an R15 is wow material anyway. Though the acceleration on my Hunk does seem to be more than that of an R15 But the pics look good, sadly only the blue R15's spy pics seem to be doing the rounds, wonder how the other colours will look. The red with little white and a lot more black will be drool material surely. Will wait and watch this space for more.

re: Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

Hi y'all

Seeing how the model numbers seem to be a little less hazy in this picture compared to the last few ones, thought i would try to enhance it a bit.

From what i can see it looks a lot like " R 17" . If this is the case then it an updated r15 for sure and not the speculated R25 or the R125 that we will be getting. Adding the pics for you to judge. First is from an R15 and the second is from the pic.

Move away from the screen to about 5 feet and then see the pics

It surely looks like the R17. YAMAHA have done a BAJAJ, the PULSAR 150 and 180 twins. What will be interesting to see is if they let the R15 continue after this one is launched, maybe do a HONDA and slash the prices wiping out the KARIZMA and 220

re: Spy Pics: Yamaha R15 REFRESH EDIT: Version 2.0 launched

even i felt that was a R17 in the first look, but then it is difficult to belive so, may be Yamaha is thinking of a certain bhp (20+ bhp is a posibility with 17% increase in c.c) coupled with a reasonable fuel efficiency, in the process out performing the P220 and others giving it a a "boss" image...looks game to me

What ever it is the pics are just awesome. And if this is the bike that is being launched asap then i will hold on to my horses and wait before booking the Honda CBR (I am thinking of getting one for me as I need to upgrade my 220)

Yamaha should take notice of people's opinion about the bad design of the rear tyre hugger (mud guard) on the new R15, and should take a leaf out of Ducati Diavel's rear tyre flap.............its awesome man !! Here is a link http://www.ducatinewstoday.com/wp-co..._Diavel_03.jpg

This is fabulous. I just wish they increase it to at least 21bhp before rolling it out. Frankly, I am in for it even if they do not as long as it cruises at 100km/hr and not scream it's lungs out at that speed. Time for an upgrade !

Abhishek the current R15 doesn't scream it's lungs out at 100 it's pretty rev happy machine and being relaxed at 100 is better left for zma and likes.
And somehow I feel that 21-22bhp would be too much for a factory tuned 150

I agree about it being a rev happy machine although I am a bit concerned about those tires and hence mentioned. When I said, relaxed, I meant ready to stretch out more and not bottle necked at that speed.

To make it wishful, let's hope it is not 150

The tires on new bike or on the R15? The last I knew they were fabulous, Also at 100 the R15 is a lot eager to go beyond than any in competition

The new bike. The one on R15 I agree is fabulous. Same goes for the 100km/hr also. I just hope the new bike maintains the characteristics. That will be a great buy.

A video of the same red bike and rider cruising at 120km/h. Pics to videos .... at least some sort of change from the marketing guys from yamaha.
