I have a question, the maroon color on the petrol tank is it a sticker or paint. The showroom sales rep said its a sticker, so if we remove the sticker would it be chrome underneath ?

Cant beileve I see such unique questions on forum. I never imagined or even thought about this till you asked.

I too think its a sticker but, of real high quality and since I never peeled it out, dont know whats beneath:D

That is definetly a new speedo console than what I have on my bike. Even the fuel lamp guage is different with new graphics

Thanks Avinash , remember in one of my earlier post I was concern about the bad quality of the golden pinstripes in one of the chromes delivered from the showroom. That made me curious :)

The RE logo is lit when the lights are on.

The vertical rubber cushions on my cylinder head keeps coming off. Its pretty sadly installed also. Does this have any significant effect on anything , specially damping the vibrations ?

The rubber cushions are vibration dampers intended to keep the fins from making noise.

Shortly after I received my Royal Enfield I removed them and I can say that 3 years after removing them there hasn't been the slightest hint of a problem.

My reason for removing them is, first, I think they are ugly.
My second reason is I live in Phoenix, Arizona USA and the temperatures here are very much like those in Southern India. It often reaches 46.1 Degrees C (115 degrees F).

I wanted as much exposed cylinder fin area as possible and I felt the dampers were covering up valuable surface area that should be cooling the engine.

My bike completed 500 Kilometers and my first service appointment is a week apart . Does this mean my initial running in period is complete and I can take the bike to new speeds or should I wait for the first service, get the fluids changed and then load the vehicle . I am really bored of riding under 50 with all that torque just waiting to be release.

I think riding at speeds up to 75 or 80 kmph would do no harm but do not use a throttle position greater than 3/4 of its full travel.

Remember, the oil that is currently in the engine has been contaminated with a lot of metal filings during the initial 500km.
The oil filter has trapped all of the larger particles and most of the smaller ones but the oil is far from pristine.

When I did my first oil change on my UCE 500, I also found quite a bit of fibrous material covering the oil pump inlet screen. This material, (if it exists in your motorcycles engine), which some Royal Enfield owners jokingly call a "old shop towel" does restrict the oil flow into the oil pump so the pump cannot work at its full efficiency.

For that reason, until you get the first oil change done you should probably limit the amount of time you enjoy these higher speeds.

After the oil and filter change has been completed you can freely ride at speeds up to 90 kmph during the last stage of the break in process.

After 1000 km has been passed, all restrictions on the speeds you can ride and the throttle settings are no longer in effect.

If your RE is like mine, you will also find that after 1600 km the vibrations felt earlier will have largely disappeared so the full enjoyment of riding can be experienced. :)

What a thumper! Rode this on Hyd-Blr expressway today. Though a bullet fan, this was something else. Kudos to RE for such an engine, RD for the box, Avi for the silencer and AP govt for the road.

My first bike was a bullet ( 10years ago, A350) and have done non-stop 200kms plus rides but I always was doubtful of Bullet's reliability when doing such rides. Avi's bike just proved that Bullet is a awesome product. Will add on more review later.

Last week, my bull refused to crank so I decided to my friendly mechanic who is a bullet specialist.

I also asked him to service the bike since its been nearly 2500kms since I got it serviced with dealership way back in Dec 2013 ( that's how low my running has been after the Bonnie came into my life:D)

During the day that I gave the bull for service, I casually glanced at my phone to see some pics being shared by my mechanic on whatsapp (:Shockked:) of bike's oil condition.

He said " Looks as old as when the bike came out of the showroom"...I was taken aback

Does the oil turn this black after < 3000kms and 8 months?

Anyways, not sure if it was a ploy by him to lure me away from getting my future services done from dealership or it was for real

He comes highly recommended by a close friend who has 3 bullets and gets it serviced by him from more than a decade so I have no doubts on him

Anyways, the bull is back fully serviced and oil changed (hopefully this time) with my odometer reading 10,950kms

It's just about impossible to know if the drained oil was changed 2500 km ago or 6000 km ago by just looking at it.

I've seen the oil that I've drained out of my Royal Enfield G5 as discolored as the oil in the photo after riding the motorcycle about 2000 km (1221 miles).

The oil filter removes any particle that is large enough to cause a problem with the engine so, even though the old oil "looks" black and dirty, if the filter was changed at the recommended intervals, the engine should be fine.
That's why I have also changed the oil filter with each oil change, rather than every other oil change like Royal Enfield suggests.

Modern motorcycle oils are made to clean carbon off of the piston and piston rings and then keep the fouling in suspension.
This can cause the oil to look very "dirty" even though it is still good at lubricating and cooling the engine parts.

One thing is for sure though. You now have nice fresh oil and a new oil filter in your RE. clap:

I got the exact same BULL delivered yesterday. And what is interesting is that the story is exact same as yours!! Went for a casual test ride three days back; was smitten by the Classic 500; asked the store about delivery position and was informed that it will take at least two months for the delivery. When I asked the store manager to arrange something off the shelf, surprisingly he offered me the Classic Chrome Maroon 500 that was standing in all its glory in the showroom as the booking had been withheld due to some financial reasons. Confirmed the deal then and there itself and now it is a part of my life. The best part is that this is the first Bullet in my life and it has been ages since I drove a motorcycle. I loved every moment of riding it. As for the review, you have summed up the whole thing beautifully in this thread so it will save me a lot typing effort.:D

I did not notice any major quality issues during the delivery process. However, afterwards I noticed two things.

One, the rear mud guard is not in line with the rest of the body. There is a marked off-set towards left. Second, I have noticed a crack in the flange connecting the bend pipe to the cylinder head as is evident in the picture. Is this normal?

Some one over tightened the suppressor cap. The real problem is that you cannot get the suppressor cap alone as a spare part:Frustrati. My motorcycle also has a slight crack on the suppressor cap (happened right before my eyes - the mechanic tightened the nut with a T spanner and there was a 'tak' sound). Was very worried then and went to the spares for a replacement and got the answer that it comes along with the bend pipe and costs somewhere above 2.5k. However there are no problems up to this date.

Claim for the warranty and stand your ground. Be prepared for all sorts of rubbish explanations and persuasions for not replacing the part.

Don't let this minor fault get between you and the machine. It is all part and pain of owning a bullet. Congratulations and wish you a happy and hassle free ownership.
