There is still no update on the Launch date. I think the bike if priced the "Bajaj Way", will be an ideal upgrade for all current 150-180 riders who want a larger capacity, Non-RE bike. KTM Duke 200 doesnt really feel like an upgrade and the 390 is priced fairly our of reach (also not everyone wants the performance of a Duke).

Eagerly following this thread but apparently no "Birdies" here.

Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) wins creative mandate for Bajaj Auto’s Kratos bike. The creative agency won the mandate in a multi-agency pitch. The estimated media spend and account size is pegged in the range of Rs 60-70 crore. No further details divulged as of now.

The new Ocean Blue colour introduced on the Bajaj V is the same colour that was seen on the bike pictured in Leh and a few other subsequent pics.

From your past experience at BAL, typically how long does Ad development and launch take?

Just asking this, because if O&M have recently bagged the project means there is still some time for the bike to launch. At this rate I would imagine this would be launched only by end Q1 2017.

My dept. was different. So no clear idea about this.

But I am guessing that it could be done within a month's time.

My 2 cents,
Given the traction the bike has been receiving all over the auto media, it already has long line waiting for it to launch. Which would more than take care of sales in the initial months. Also, bajaj might do a media launch, and start the bookings. Deliveries may start much later. So I feel its difficult to link the two, though it is very logical.

PS: If i am not wrong, Himalayan Ads started coming long after deliveries began. I may be wrong.

No idea about dispatches but Mr Ravi Kumar, President Business Development; Bajaj Auto had said in an Interview (CNBC TV18/MoneyControl.com) about the Kratos commencing production from Nov 2016 on wards.

That means, production activity for the Kratos must be on by now.

Bummer if they name it Dominar! Sounds very un-inspiring. Even CS400 is a better alternative than Dominar

Pulsar CS 400 > Pulsar VS 400 > Bajaj Kratos 400 > Bajaj Dominar 400. Are they out of their mind? How many times you are going to change the name of an upcoming model? And end up in such an uninspiring name! People are confused. And a trademark issue with the name Kratos? Hard to believe that they didn't get any legal opinion before fixing that name.

Phew! so many names for a bike, and sadly the names are getting worser with each iteration!

May be they should reserve the Dominar name for the future CS200 model.
"Do"-minar makes more sense for a 200 cc bike, and since this is 400 cc, they should name it "Char-minar".

Slightly OT,but why this obsession for unheard and unknown Spanish and Latin names for any new cars or bikes that get launched here?
Are we so short of good names here in India?

One can somewhat understand the logic when global products from European brands get launched here.
But why our own Tata, Mahindra and Bajaj should name their models with spanish and latin names?
Why can't there be some desi Indian names for models from our own Desi brands?

Bolero, Scorpio, Tiago, Verito,Quanto, Hexa, Bolt, Zest, Centuro, Pantero, Stallio, Rodeo, Gusto,.. the list is endless.
Could'nt think of many Indian sounding names other than Thar and Indica.

This fascination for anything that is western/foreign should come to an end.

Are they giving Indian names to their cars in Spain or any country for that matter? I don't think so.

When we ourselves are after Spanish & Latin American names for our Desi brands, who is there to promote our desi names in other countries?

And now Bajaj also wants to go the Spanish way.But why?

If they want to market it in other countries,they can very easily rename/rebadge it to whatever they feel appropriate there.

When their primary & majority customer-base is in India, why don't they give some Indian names for products launched here?
So for every new product launch, people won't have to search the internet to get the meaning of those odd-sounding clueless Spanish names!

Even I am not too kicked about the "Dominar" name.

Like someone pointed out, there are so much cool sounding Indian/Sanskrit names that can be used as names for new models... but alas it seems Foreign influence still seems to be the flavor.

P.S: OT but while naming my son, I was very particular that he had a name with Sanskrit origins.
