Actually I bought my CBR250ABS from Haiku Honda in Bangalore soon after it's release. Never faced a single issue in the 3 years I owned it. I believe the initial partnering with Indian firms (Honda with Hero Motorcorp, KTM/Kawasaki with Bajaj, and now BMW with TVS) helps these manufacturers to understand Indian market and road conditions better and use those insights into building their products. Still if issues occur, it's mostly a matter of quality control.

Spot On mate.

I would buy for most of the reasons that you have listed, but for me these are the main ones.

1) Better seating position (Little less back swept foot pegs, More taller handlebar)
* my Mrs. likes to ride with me and she hated being on a KTM.
3) Soft suspension
* better when you are getting old and not used to sports bikes.
6) Cheaper parts
* Married and have Twins so it has to be cost effective.
7) Sufficient acceleration for average person to go crazy
*Yamaha rx and Pulsar 220 excites me i am sure this will be good enough to scare me.
8) ABS
*Need of the Hour.
10) Cheaper maintenance
*Covered in Point 6.
11) Heats up less in traffic conditions
*Have been there and dont want to be there again.
12) Better fuel efficiency
*Kitna deti hai is very important.

3) Soft suspension
4) Better padded seat
5) More points to pack luggage
6) Cheaper parts
7) Sufficient acceleration for average person to go crazy
8) ABS
9) Sufficiently grippy tyres and not as costly as Metzler.
10) Cheaper maintenance
11) Heats up less in traffic conditions
12) Better fuel efficiency

Then this is the bike to go for considering an overall perspective of a low end tourer which is bang for buck.

On the contrary, there is a clear difference between the sound of the D200 and D390. The D390 is louder and more guttural.

On a lighter note, the 200 sounds like a 2S Auto and the 390 like a 4S one

Anyway with the leaked ARAI documents now its pretty much clear thzt its a 373.27 cc Engine and not the 199.5 cc one that would be on the VS400

Strange, i always thought the Duke 200 sounds louder. I might be wrong, but have been observing this since a long time.

re: Next Gen Bajaj Pulsars - SS400 & CS400 (rechristened as Dominar)

Sometimes i think if i cant understand myself how can anyone else hope to. Up till now i always thought that if the cs400 has anywhere around 38-40 bhp, that would be okay. 34.5 bhp is almost shaving off 10 bhp from the duke 390. Combine that with a 30 kg higher weight and it suddenly doesnt sound so enticing to me. After waiting for all this time, i think i might just go in for the duke 390 or the Rc390 even though i hate both bikes for the phut phut sound they produce. But it does give the maximum bang for the buck. Ktm- give me a 390. A better sounding exhaust and a slightly bigger fuel tank which can do 250 kilometers and my heart (and my money is yours)

Looks like everyone is forgetting the fact that the KTM 390 is produced and sold by Bajaj.

It therefore makes No sense if the KTM 390 and the VS/CS 400 appeals to the same set of customers.

Mr. Bajaj Would actually want both the bikes to appeal to totally different set of customers.. and he looks like he seems to have scripted it perfectly.

I find the KTM 390's a hoot to ride.. but find it's maniac like character too frantic / out of breath for me. Maybe I would have preferred the KTMs had it been available 10 years back.

Right now I am looking for something which has enough grunt on tap yet has a relaxed ride (Strong & Silent character). And No am still not convinced about the Royal Enfield's

.. and by the way, a bit of weight is desirable on a bike that is meant for long distances. It kind of smoothens the ride. All great long distance rides (2/4 wheelers) carry a bit of extra weight.

re: Next Gen Bajaj Pulsars - SS400 & CS400 (rechristened as Dominar)

I don't think anybody has a clear idea of how much power will the engine produce in the pulsar body..all I've heard so far seem to be vague speculations.

Do we have any informed birdie here? Or did I miss a leaked brochure or something?

Cheers

And a better seating position (the rider footpegs are too behind, it's like sitting on my genitals)

Also, the rear seat needs to be redesigned to actually seat another person.

And that tail section which vibrates wildly doesn't give the feel of a Rs. 2 lakh bike. Needs to be firm and strong.

Looks really good, doesn't it!? The VS 400 will be the more grown up, mature, sedate, silent and the shy cousin of the flashy, 'show me your face, I punch you' character-ed Duke 390!
The engine will be tuned towards rideability rather than outright powerrrr. It could make a better tourer than the D390. Aiding the fact would be the riding position which will be more relaxed than the D390. I am particularly interested in seeing the LED headlights in action and knowing Bajaj, this one will be loaded with gizmos for sure!
Going by the looks and the rumored specs, this one has every potential to be the best Pulsar till date!

IMHO, The riding position does look similar to Duke 390. The position of footpegs and handlebar looks it won't be very aggressive, But not very comfortable either. Bike does look good and Bajaj have grown up in not making the bike look too flashy like the RS200. Good work!

Yes, the riding position looks like the Duke 390; cramped. Rear seat looks more inviting than the D390. Rest of the stuff looks inspired by the KTM too. They've replaced the beautiful steel trellis frame of KTM with plastic, reduced the power output as well. Not sure how much of a winner that makes it above the Duke. If they lower the price point, well, it will be value for money.
