Or else, may be this is a positioning strategy for CS400 and upcoming SS400. They could tune SS400 for around 40+ BHP and put it up against other 375+ cc products.

Don't read too much into these articles, unless it refers to an official communication. Most of times its just the blogger's (un)educated guess. IF you read the article, expect for the august launch, which has reportedly confirmed by Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, everything else is just speculative.
For the real story we should wait and see. BTW, if the launch is in august then an official teaser must be just around the corner.

Is it's the RE numbers that interests Mr. Bajaj... then a 200 cc is unlikely

Logical, but BAL has done this in the past too. Before the RS came out, every one speculated that its the RS400, because that is what they showcased at the expo and all the test mules spotted did not reveal in anyway the size of the engine.

Though I would like to be proven wrong

The bike looks definitely heavy for itself if it is a 200!

"Alleged".

Very, very similar to the 390, eh? Perhaps they have plonked the same engine and de-tuned it for lower figures than the Austrian.

This behavior of the company official allowing the public to check the bike in detail seems to indicate the launch is very very near.
I am also liking the placement of foot pegs they seem to be a bit forgiving and are set near the center.
C'mon Mr. Bajaj make that announcement

cheers!

Nope it sounds similar to the NS to me.. yes it should be the engine block of the ktm 390.

But "detuned"? by how much? 1-3 ps? More than power difference, it'll most likely be the tall gearing for relaxed ride.. rather than the short geared / manic nature of the KTMs that should make the difference

Sounds too quiet, still have a niggling feeling it could be a CS200.

Could be poor audio quality of the video recorded on the phone, but that did not sound that great.

Frankly speaking, the exhaust note was nowhere close to the duke 200/390. Sounds similar to the NS as said by payeng. The KTM sounds much better and louder.

I like the way the NS sounds.. so it's a good thing for me.

The ktm 390 doesn't sound different to the 200.. therefore one just can't guess from the exhaust note if the engine on the CS is 200 cc or 375 cc

Most likely it would be the 375 cc variant..

.. although a 250 cc twin does make a very good business sense to me.

Bajaj already has a 250 cc Duke/RC variant in place
