re: Next Gen Bajaj Pulsars - SS400 & CS400 (rechristened as Dominar)

Have been trying to get a cruiser from a long time. There was just no option in the 1.5 lakhs budget which will be a true upgrade to a 150 cc bike.

This meets all the check boxes.

Hope they launch it in the Red color from the Auto Expo.

Bike looks good! The high set handle bars should aid in relaxed cruising. Can't wait to Test ride it!

I think the headlight spoils the look of the entire front section. Its very libero-ish (which didnt go too well with the audience.

The guy in the photo is clearly small.. the seat height should not be tall as the bike has a slightly low slung look

Do I see an ABS written on the front near the disc? Not sure if it's noticed already, I'm sure it was
On a different note, does it involve additional cost to have a USD instead of the regular shocks? I suppose it's just a matter of fixing them USD. Or are USDs a different breed?

Not only does it have ABS written, it has the ABS ring on both front and rear discs, confirming that it indeed does have ABS. What needs to be see is whether it comes with the cheaper single channel ABS or dual channel ABS.

USD's handle better and provider better feedback, that said its not so much visible in regular day to day riding or even touring conditions.

Its almost impossible to recover from a Front Wheel Lock and in majority of times it results in a crash.. a rear wheel lock results in slide / fish tailing of the bike.. which actually can be avoided by using the front brakes (most Indians have habit of using the rear brakes more/only)

I have the habit (and I am sure you do so too) of using the Front Brakes More (the correct braking technique).. therefore ABS on the front brakes for emergency situations of braking on loose/slippery surface is OK for me.

Dual Channel ABS is a good thing.. but Single Channel ABS is also perfectly acceptable for me than NO ABS.

Yep, USD's does mean additional costs.. probably 10K more on the sticker price.. the actual benefits of USD is not that tangible on bikes meant for regular usage.

.. Unless its on a high performance bikes where milliseconds of advantage matters.

While I do get that Bajaj is trying to keep the costs within reach of many, I don't understand why they cannot provide upgrade options for people who do not mind paying for USD's, ABS or otherwise :(

re: Next Gen Bajaj Pulsars - SS400 & CS400 (rechristened as Dominar)

It has become my daily routine to check for the news about Pulsar CS/VS 400 at least 2-3 times

It is killing to see the launch getting delayed day by day. It is like Bajaj is teasing you with more and more spy shots. I wonder if they have started dispatching the bikes to their showrooms already. It is getting difficult to keep waiting and waiting.

I wish I had the patience of Payeng sir

Pulsar VS400 Launched Postpostponed:

Following is from a recent interview (Source:MoneyControl.com)

Quote:
"We have pushed the Pulsar launch to a later date, exact date we will announce a bit later, but right now, this and next month, we are going to be concentrating on feeding the festive demand.
The whole focus for the Festive Season probably would be on the V15 and Avenger 150, the two models that are pushing the domestic sales up for Bajaj Auto even when the exports have been negative. Bajaj probably wants to ensure as high numbers as possible from these commuter models.. the Pulsar 400 obviously won't bring in big numbers compared to these commuters.

Probably we should expect a Oct or Nov launch now for the VS400

Thats such a shame really, was so looking forward to this launch and now it has been pushed out without even a tentative date being given out.

Hope they engineer some miracle and do actually launch it in the next few weeks (i.e. Media drives etc) and deliveries to start by Festive season.

Hope they utilise this time to test some more and stabilize this platform more. Bajaj is notorious for doing product improvements post launch. Sometimes too many iterations is not a good thing
