Re: Ola S1 Electric Scooter Review

To promote the new software, Ola CEO had announced to gift a free S1 PRO Gerua colour to any owner who manages to get over 200 kms range on a single charge.

Tata has also done similar things with its customers. They first harassed the customer and then put a gag order that the customer cannot share negative comments online about their ordeal with bad products. They made the customer sign a legal agreement to that effect before helping them out. A middle class person really doesn't stand any chance against a huge conglomerate. Wish these companies would divert the effort they put into gagging the troubled customers from sharing their ordeals with others into making a better product.

We have members who have paid full amount, whose insurance has started but are yet to receive their scooters and here he is distributing FREE scooters. Man, this is humiliating to say the least.

They are not allowing me to cancel the booking as well.

Overall a pathetic experience and please beware of these jokers.

Seems like you are new to riding. It is common practice [and correct as well] to apply slight rear brake with throttle for taking U-turns or any sharp turns. Ask any seasoned rider and s/he would tell you the same.
Throttle cut-off with slightest touch of brake is definitely a safety hazard for most people who have been riding "regular" two wheelers all along.

The customer support is useless. They give the same reply that I will soon receive a call from the registration team. They are not allowing me to cancel the booking as well.
Now opening a new window for booking shows their careless attitude.

Overall a pathetic experience and please beware of these jokers.
sunilg33, Im sorry to hear of your experience. I suggest that you post more details with timelines of your booking, booking ID etc, on this thread. I have reported your post to the Mods so that it gets highlighted in the Hot Threads section. That should give your case the attention it deserves, both from members and readers of this forum, as well as from Ola. Hopefully the company proceeds with your cancellation and refunds the full amount to you soon.

I agree. That said, Im not surprised that Ola has had to resort to gimmicks such as this, to stay relevant when the conversation in the EV scooter space has swung in favour of its competition.

While Ola fans keep shouting from the rooftops about a handful of deliveries happening here and there, they go awfully quiet when such awful experiences get highlighted. Anyways, hope sungil33's ordeal ends quickly and he can put this behind him.

Below are the payment, insurance, and follow-up email screenshots. The latest update is that a person visited the house today and got signatures on the registration papers. He says it will be a max 1 week more. Essentially I am losing 2 months of insurance and it required a lot of follow-ups to reach this point.
I strongly believed that cloud companies can bring an evolution in the automobile buying experience, it can still happen but OLA is not that company from my experience.

Re: Ola S1 Electric Scooter Review

Bhavish must be joking when he says many ICE two wheelers don't have a 200 km range on a full tank! Which two wheeler is that? My ice two wheeler can comfortably reach Tirunelveli from Chennai on a full tank and another 40 km beyond as well, with normal riding not exceeding 60 kph! Let them try it on a Ola scooter!

Remember the "mileage tests" which used to be conducted for 100 cc four stroke bikes during the early 90's? I have seen some achieve 110 kmpl or even more. But the tyres will be pumped up to 40 psi, single riding without any sort of luggage and not exceeding 40 kmph plus not coming below top gear. That was what it was - just a record. Nobody can achieve anywhere near that mileage in regular use.

Still Off-Topic w.r.t. to this thread :

Sorry if I was not clear in my previous post.

I was saying about Privacy & Data Protection. How easily consumer data can be put in public domain by any organization.

Your point, though valid, is related to Consumer Protection. How easy is it for consumer to get answer and solution for problems faced with product/ service.

I guess he is talking about scooters when he mentions 2 wheelers don't have 200km range. If he isn't then he is as dumb as he sounds on twitter in other conversation or arrogant without anything to back up.

Even with that latitude in interpretation, Mr. Bhavish is still not correct :-).

Our TVS Jupiter had given around ~40KMPL on the couple of occasions I measured it (tank full-full. This, I think, was around 4 years ago. It has not been monitored since it is just used to potter around the neighborhood) and has a 5lt tank + Reserve.

I guess this would be the case with most other well maintained ICE scooters of this class, they all have tanks of ~5Lts, if driven with efficiency in mind, they would manage 200kms.

Nonetheless that Ola scooter is successful in getting a mileage well beyond the ARAI range, in normal conditions is welcome +ve news.

They are not selling S1, they can even reduce the price by 85K, it does not matter to buyers whatever they do with S1 pricing as along as they are not selling.

Nice. 9hours of riding on a scooter takes amazing patience! So are you also getting a new Orange Scooter?
