Re: Ola S1 Electric Scooter Review

Did Anyone from Delhi, who got the Scooter, get the State Subsidy ? If so, how ?

Also on a separate note, I bought an S1 in the beginning. They sent me a S1 Pro (with software limited range and what not). I want to upgrade this to the S1 Pro Software. Any way to do that ?

To ola s1 owners can the audio for reverse and during switch On be disabled?

There is no such option in Move OS 2.0 . And i did not find any mention on this in some of the leaked videos of Move OS 3.0 either.

Re: Ola S1 Electric Scooter Review

hey guys, any idea how to decode the chassis number of the ola s1 to verify the month of manufacture?

booked an s1 using my credit card on the 29th Oct afternoon > uploaded docs > verified the same evening > next day got a call from an OLA/RTO rep for Vaahan OTP, received the reg. number the same evening > this morning got a message that the vehicle is out for delivery. Also, the insurance was issued on the same date as the purchase date, should it not start from the date of registration instead?

Re: Ola S1 Electric Scooter Review

20,000 Ola S1 units sold in October while Vahan registrations were around 16,000 units it seems Ola electric is on course to achieve 1 lakh unit sales.

Received the vehicle this afternoon as promised, order to delivery in 2 days, impressed! Figured the chassis sticker on the vehicle also has the date, month and year of manufacture, turns out mine came out of the assembly line on 18th Oct 22. Vehicle was delivered with 40pc charge and everything seems to be working fine without any glitches so far.

Ola owners,

When do the scooters get serviced and how? No indication on the manual.

I am planning to book one.

I checked with the sales executive. He mentioned 4000 to 6000 kms between service at home. He was very casual abut the requirement of periodic maintenance. Not a very confident with his replies. He just said the scooter only needs checking of breaks and he also said the scooter has 3 year warranty and needs no maintenance

I am now wondering about the resale value of the scooter in the future.

Even in IC scooters, they hardly do any actual service, I have honda activa, aviator, activa 125 service manuals and even for a IC scooter the air filter needs to be replaced 16000 km and the mineral oil every 4000 km and the transmission belt every 24000km.

The only common replacements thing between a IC scooter and a EV like Ola and ather is the drive belt and disc brake oil and gear oil (both oil to be changed every 2 years for honda activa). But in practice they change the disc brake oil only if it goes low. The service centers rarely follow the factory service manuals. They do not tight the nut and bolt according to torque specs.

All the others who give IC scooter for for service for every 6 months, are suckers who are born every minute.

So unless something is broke, its safe to service electric two wheelers every 2 years, for just changing the disc brake oil and gear oil. Unless the company mandates other wise until the warranty period.

I remember Ola announcing that their scooters will be serviced at home by a trained 'Ola Champion'. Please try to make an elaborate post on the entire at-home service process, it'll be interesting to know about zero maintenance in electric two-wheelers. I think the owner's manual will have the detailed service check list for every periodical service, like any petrol scooters.

Drive belt and brake oil will be common to both, but gear oil for EV? I don't think they have a gear box with oil in it.

The single speed reduction gear may have oil for gear teeth again not all EVs have this but we may start seeing it once high powered EV motorcycles start entering the market. Any metal gear to metal gear mesh, once it reaches enough rpm its going to heat up and it will need oil. While belt driven gear will not have oil because the belt is softer but that gear on wheel side will then have to mate with the spline from the wheel shaft and thats a metal to metal contact/mesh, which is lubricated by about 100ml of oil in activa. Some manufactures may just use grease.

Hub motors for sure won't have those.

It doesn't. And yet for some reason it does state that warranty will be void if service intervals are not followed.

Customer service insists that no service is needed unless there is an issue. Which I am not comfortable with to be honest.
