The H450 is the better pick for your use case. You have to consider the availability of spare parts along with the costs involved if you plan on taking the NX500 off road regularly. If you manage to bend something like a handle bar, or damage the body work on the trail, the CBU factor might be a drawback.
This precisely is a big deterrent and one of the main concerns. I know people who are taking bikes like Tiger, bigger GS, Africa Twins, etc off the road, and would love to know their experience of dealing with repairs / spares.

Its a matter of Head Vs Heart, where logically the Himalayan 450 makes sense for my requirement and that is why i had mentioned it as a "no Brainer" in my previous post. But motorcycles is a subject where usually heart overrules the mind. When i test rode the Himalayan 450, that instant connect was missing. Also, with Himalayan 450, i am not really gaining a lot over 310GS. I prefer bikes which have a torquey feel, and where i feel like sitting INSIDE the bike and not ON the bike. NX500 seems to fit the bill, and my other requirements of a comfortable upright ergonomics, supple suspension in a twin configuration. Of course all this information is from looking at videos and reviews online and will have to validate in person once test rides are available.

I have also booked NX500 in the Grand Prix Red colour in Bengaluru. Estimated on road price is ~ Rs. 7.5L.
According to Honda bigwing dealer, the order of deliveries is Gunpowder black, followed by Grand Prix Red and Pearl horizon white at the end. I have been given March-April as potential delivery time. I am also attaching the brochure for people who are interested in this bike.

Congratulations.

Can you confirm whether there was any E20 sticker on this vehicle?

I don't think so. NX was not announced as E20 compliant. Even Transalp is E10.

Is not being E20 compliant a risk for the future?

How can they sell without BS6.2 (E20) compliance? Is there any exception for CBU imports?

Just curious,

It's confirmed E10. Check the photo attached. It's from the bikes that just arrived:

Re: Honda NX500 to be launched in India soon. Edit: Launched at 5.9 lakhs

How does the short suspension travel on the NX500 (135mm rear and 150mm front) fare in the real world riding?

Shouldn't this be a bit more if the bike has the 'NX' prefix and if its categorized under "Adventure Touring" bracket? Most bikes under that category have higher travel, for eg, 170mm + for 390 adv for both, 180mm for 310GS for both front and rear, and so on. Would the short suspension travel be an issue on th NX500, if the bike is taken off the tarmac.

Re: Honda NX500 to be launched in India soon. Edit: Launched at 5.9 lakhs

The NX/ Transalp should have been E20 from the get go for the price it commands.
Again, they will sell out the small number of allocated units eventually. Plenty of customers who can afford this. Niche customers will always justify this bike even if it costs ten lakh saying quality/reliability (which is true). Similar to how Toyota sells the overpriced Fortuner. Basically depends on amount of spare cash one has. Plus there's the whole mod community outside that just makes it a full blown ADV.

Honestly, this is not an off road bike, the NX is to milk the brand more than anything else. It's a brilliant road bike and I would stop there. I am not saying it cannot off road or do dirt tracks, it will, but I believe this bike is more road focused.

BS 6 does not mandate E20. They are 2 different things. eg My Car is BS 6 but is only E10. In fact, most of the cars being sold in India are still E10. There are several threads here on this very topic.
But, Yes, An buying an E20 compliant vehicle would definitely be more re-assuring given the direction which the govt of the day seems to be steering us

Yes, this is not an off road bike like the Himalayan with 200mm of suspension travel both front and rear, But with 19" front and that styling, the NX500 surely looks like an adventure tourer.
See the below image from their official brochure which enforces the point.

I was not sure how the CB500X which essentially has similar suspension travel, performs on varied off road conditions with limited suspension travel. So would be good to hear owners thoughts.

Suspension is anyways a tricky subject where we have bikes like Suzuki SX250 with 120mm travel and there are people doing offroading on the same. Even Versys 650 has slightly higher travel and I had that bike and suspension was good.

Apart from emissions POV, E20 blend has:
-Anti-knock properties, enhances octane rating for modern high compression SI engines
-Lower fuel imports, support agri farmers
