Whenever a DSG fails, it gets posted somewhere and a lot of discussions happen about it unreliability. A post about long term reliability of the DSG is very rare. Thanks for sharing this. 300,000 kms is just fantastic!

I owned an Ameo 1.5 TDI DSG in the past. I have a GT 1.2 TSI DSG right now with 111000 kms. My father has a 2.0 TDI DSG in his Audi Q3 with 85000 kms.

We are DSG warriors

The moment there is a slippage from and to first and second or shuddering, it's a time for a change. I changed the clutch and flywheel at the Garve ASC in Pune, the total cost came to 75k, inclusive of a loyalty discount.

Re: 2014 Skoda Rapid 1.5L DSG : Official Review

I have just taken over a Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI DSG (2016, 91K kms) from within family. I need some help:
1) I was able to download the owner's manual from Skoda website but I couldn't find the service schedule. Could someone share it?
2) General service (Engine oil, coolant, brake fluid) was done in Nov 2024, what all should I look to get checked & changed before the upcoming long trip? Last DSG change was done 3-4 years ago and I don't think any transmission oil change has been done after that.
3) Any other advice for a lifetime Petrol driver?

Thanks!

Although I have responded to your rest of the queries on a recent post of yours (on a different thread), for this last point my suggestion is to get vehicle serviced every 15k Kms or 1 years strictly. Preferably in an Authorized Service Stations (ASS) please. Only ASS or some specific FNG know how to deal with Germans machines. Don't take that risk. ASS will do good work - but you need to follow the schedule strictly. Don't cut corners in servicing the car.

Always use Fully Synthetic Engine Oil like Mobil 1 / LiquiMoly 5W-40 with approval named VW 505 00 or VW 505 01. Get your engine oil flushed with a good Engine Flush (Castrol or LiquiMoly) in the next service before Engine Oil change. Do this mandatorily and then every 30k Kms.

Get Air-filters replaced more frequently if you're based in a dusty area. Fuel filter replacements every 2 years or 30k Kms. These filters need frequent changes in a Diesel motor.

Don't throttle hard during cold-starts. Let it idle for a minute or two at the cold start every time during the day. This will improve the life of Turbo. Same goes when turning-off the engine. Let it idle for a minute before turning-off the engine.

Happy riding

Lot of research and also by refering to our members posts I decided to go with Motul X-cess 5w40 Fully synthetic Engine oil. Rest of the filters were OEM.
Why did you go for 505 00 instead of the recommended 505 01 engine oil?
What colour is the VW coolant? I hear Wurth coolant is compatible and cheaper.

Motul X cess 5w40 was widely recommended by members on this forum and it has been performing very well for me. The G12 Evo coolant is Pink in color and it is a ready mix.

505 01 is prescribed for turbo engines so probably better to stick to it.

Can you recommend me a good engine oil conforming to this spec, I would try that on my next oil change.

Sure, doing my research. My mechanic uses Mobil 1, I will try to get the details. Castrol also has some oils available online. My service is due in November so I have some time to finalize.

I am going to use LM Diesel Purge today with direct connection to the can, let's see how it performs!
