Is it worth a buy today, I am looking for an automatic for my wife who is a new driver and is finding it little tough to drive my i20. I have seen few well maintained Nanos and I am inclined towards them. What all issues should I keep in mind?

I am interested, are you based in Ahmedabad? Please DM

Re: Tata Nano AMT (Automatic) : Official Review

My 2016 Nano XTA is currently not drivable. Currently driven only 20K so far over these years. On 16th it was driven in the morning at 8 AM to drop son to school and again in the evening to pick up my son from school around 3 PM. On returning home the pickup seemed to be reduced and luckily after reaching home the gears would not engage and the vehicle was shuddering switching off. Gear indicator was always shown as N. Tried switching off and waiting for quite some time but still the same continued. Had the vehicle towed to the nearest service center.

Am told by the service advisor that the clutch is gone and the gear actuators are also not working and am told it will take 75k + 7 K for fixing both actuator and clutch. Also being told its not work fixing at so much cost.

Is this the real issue or am I getting some story from the service advisor. Anyone who has gone through this earlier?

Any contacts at Tata to have this reviewed as I am really puzzled as a less run vehicle which is maintained well will have such a catastrophic failure?

If you know of a trustworthy FNG, take it to him, and get the clutch and pressure plate changed, along with the gear oil.

I have the same variant and year, changed the above, paid as under:
1. Clutch pressure plate 1200/- (OEM)
2. Gear oil 2 ltr 700/-.
3. Labour 1500/-.

My Nano XTA 2016, odo reading then was 34k km. Creep function stopped functioning, clutch slipping. And ECL came on sometimes, would go away after sometime. So don't worry and panic. Nothing else needs to be done, it's a simple machine.

Now completed 2k km and it's driving as good as new.

I'll post pictures and details in a separate post.

After this, take your car to TASS, Or another FNG which does this diagnosis, and clear all errors.

Re: Tata Nano AMT (Automatic) : Official Review

My car is at the authorized service center only. Just to make myself clear - the car is not staying on for more than a few seconds and shudders badly and switches off totally. It doesnt shift into D or R and the N indicator keeps flashing.

My question again is does the actuator need replacing or doing the above mentioned is enough to solve the issue?

Re: Tata Nano AMT (Automatic) : Official Review

Recently I noticed some noise while driving my Tata Nano and found that one of the rear tyre got damaged.

The Front tyres were in better condition with about 4 to 5K of life balance but I decided to change all four as it has alrady clocked 31500KM.

The existing tyres were JK Tyres which I replaced with MRF Zec Stock size - 135/70/R 12 for front and 155/65/R 12 for the rear. All the tyres were manufactured in May 2023.
Cost - Rs. 2100 each for the front and Rs. 2450 for the rear (at Madhu Tyres Mysore)(including fitting charges and valves).
Total Rs. 9100 + Rs.650 for wheel balancing and alignment with Nitrogen filling.

The ride quality has improved very much. Noticeable particularly over mud roads.
The road noise has also reduced significantly.

Attaching images of old tyre and new tyres for reference.

Correct choice, I've the same make and size, happy since more than 2 years.

How is your stepny?

Your alloys look smart, need a coat of paint.

This is mostly due to the throttle body not related to the AMT or its corresponding electronics. Throttle body isn't able to adjust the idle by itself hence the engine is shuddering and shutting off. Can you confirm if you accelerate, is the RPM increasing ?

Hi Vinod,

Sorry for late reply.

I have not used stepney still now. It is in new condition. I bought alloys from Tata showroom for 16K. They are little bit dirty because of rainy season otherwise they looks like new one.

Thanks for the compliment

Re: Tata Nano AMT (Automatic) : Official Review

My 2016 Nano XTA was playing up (actually coughing and choking) since last couple of weeks, called up Mohd. My trusted FNG, and he diagnosed as throttle body cleaning required, and asked me to get a can of the same, with new spark plugs, got all this along with the following works done.
1. Throttle body spray 120/-
2. Flexible hose (Air filter to throttle body) from boodmoo 328/-
3. Champion spark plugs set of 2, 178/-
4. Bosch frameless wiper blade 521/-
5. Side repeater lamp left and right 208/-
Labour 200/-

He sprayed with the car started and accelerated with the old spark plugs, emptied 75% of the can. Immediately could make out change in car's sound and behaviour, now performs like a sweet puppy.

Some pictures, please ignore the dusty parcel tray.

Re: Tata Nano AMT (Automatic) : Official Review

Hello everyone

I got the HSRP plates fixed for my 2015 Tata Nano XTA from URS Car Motors, Mysore. I ordered them from https://bookmyhsrp.com/ .

It was a super smooth experience from booking to fixing the HSRP number plate. Booking was very simple, I got updates on email, the plates were delivered before appointment date. I went to service center and I was in and out within 15 minutes. The showroom was empty when I went to service Centre. They had assigned a dedicated staff for this work, who attended me in no time as I entered in service Centre. No appointment receipt checked. They asked me vehicle registration number, issued new number plates, stickers and rivets. They asked me to contact the concerned person he removed old number plate and drilled the holes at same place and replaced with new one. It was a hassle-free experience and took less than 15 minutes.

The plate quality seems to be good night time it is visible clearly. They asked for old number plate to be deposited at service Centre but I collected it to avoid any misuse.

Re: Tata Nano AMT (Automatic) : Official Review

Got my tyres changes to MRF ZEC earlier today.
The technician told me to keep 33 psi in rear while the recommended pressure is 28.
Any thoughts and recommendations

I usually keep 30/28 psi, (Rear/Front), configuration. 33 makes the rear too stiff & rigid (as the Nano has very short suspension travel). When on highway runs, i bump it up to 32/30(F/R). My car's also running MRF's.

Re: Tata Nano AMT (Automatic) : Official Review

Team need your suggestion on below
I am looking for a secondary car to drive at my native Coimbatore.I had been a nano lx owner in the past) . sold the same 2011 lx during 2018 because of ac compressor failure and bought a new grand i10 sports variant that I am using at Hyderabad.
I may use it during may during a month vacation and sparingly during dusshera breaks

Found a 2016 XTA with odo reading 37000kms and second owner. Person owning it now since last 3 months have not done name transfer yet. He claims his father for whom he bought the car is not able to use it. Kindly suggest if I can consider buying it for 1.6lacs
