25000 in less than 6 months? This is about 4.8K kms in a month. Do you even get out of your car?

Your monthly fuel bills must be scary.

My 13 month old car is at 18K kms. Incidentally, I was not driving it for about 5 months.

My Scross 1.3 zeta is 18 days old now. Availed 1st free service yesterday at 1300 KM. Coming from a small petrol hatch, I am enjoying driving this vehicle both in the city as well as on long drives. I love the build quality, mature handling and the confidence it inspires on the highway. My only grouse with the car is, 1.3 seems to be little underpowered.
Now I need a suggestion. Lets say I am driving uphill with 4 passengers + luggage with AC on. There's a speedbreaker and I need to slow down. So I downshift to 2nd gear, cross the speedbreaker and after that when I press A pedal, the vehicle takes eternity to move forward. Once or twice it almost stalled! Never happenned with my Ritz. I guess I need to change my driving style. 1.3 owners, please let me know your process of crossing speedbreakers while going uphill.

Best way to achieve this in a fuss free manner is to shift to first gear when crossing a speed breaker on an uphill stretch. What you experienced is the infamous turbo lag of the 1.3 DDIS, when you slowed down for the speed-breaker. The engine revs would have fallen below the turbo zone, and hence the lack of response form it. Till the engine gets into the turbo zone, this kind of lag in power to the engine would occur.

It has to do with the difference in weight and gear ratios from Ritz to S-Cross. Even the engine calibration is different and it is more oriented towards better mid and top end performance unlike the Ritz.

The best thing would be to downshift to 1st gear and gain momentum for a few meters before shifting to 2nd. This not only ensures you get satisfactory acceleration but also increases clutch life.

I can understand your situation. The 1.2L K12 in Ritz / Swift will pull perfectly in second gear in those situations, where as the 1L Ecoboost Petrol engine in Ecosport was failing to do so. I was expecting much more from Ecoboost. But we are not reaching the turbo zone during that time, and that was the issue. Same will be the case for you. Downshift.

Makes me feel like my car has some problems!! What speeds do you drive?

I'm hardly getting 19 Kmpl; last weekend my drive to Coimbatore was at an average speed of 92 Kmph, hardly 6.5 hours with over 1 hour break at Sangagiri for filling stomach as well as Diesel. 90% of the time the car was on cruise at 120 with occasional burst for overtaking.

Then the average speed fell down to 61 Kmph on my way to Muvattupuzha & the FE was 17.6 Kmpl

I feel even a 20 Kmpl average FE is good; what should I do?

Be very gentle with throttle and try to maintain constant speed

You will get 20 kmpl plus easily on highways.

But.. Can you resist enjoying the torque in 1.6 S-Cross?

To be precise this was during the recent 374 KMs one way trip,

first 20 KMs and the last 10 KMs were driven at around 50-60 kmph speed due to the city limits.
21-103 KMs in the highway were driven at constant 100 kmph where we got 25.6 kmpl mileage.
103-364 KMs in the highway were driven between 100-120 kmph speeds where we got 22 kmpl mileage.
At the end of the trip fuel gauge was showing above the halfway mark and with range of 394 KMs still to go, I was just wanting drive my crossover again and again.

So does that mean we won't get a petrol version?
I would love to buy the SCross and had my heart set on it, but my running just doesn't justify a diesel and besides I prefer an NA petrol engine any day.
If the petrol is not coming I will have to consider other options but will be stuck between heart and head. I love the SCross but absolutely don't need a diesel and also I don't trust the powers that be to allow me to use a diesel car for its full 15 year or even 10 year registered life.
So back to the drawing board or take the SCross Sigma and be done with it. Dilemma of the highest order.

Got the new wiring harness installed today. The cost of the new wiring harness for S-Cross 1.3 is 7,004/-.
