Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

Impossible to take the 3 series from kaza to Manali.
Best you can do is go till kaza from the Shimla-narkanda-kalpa route and come back the same route.
The roads are generally good but the problem comes during the occasional bad section of the road. Let’s just say you can take the car but you won’t have peace of mind

Re: 2022 Mercedes C-Class Review

Hi,
Has anyone installed a dashcam in 330Li? Is the BMW Advanced Car Eye 3.0 available in India with both the "Pro" and "non Pro" versions? Is it worth it (Navnit quoted 55k though I don't know whether it is the pro or the non-pro version)? Any other cams that owners here have installed? I just don't want too many visible wires (Advanced Eye fits snug sans any wires) and would like both front and back cams with a parking monitor (in the front).

Thanks

Couldnt solve it. I installed a new set of wipers but the entire operation is still not seamless. Still feel some juddering issues at times with the new set.

Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

Really frustrated with the sunroof rattles from the time of purchase. Every time the car goes to Navnit workshop they do some temporary fix and the rattles are back within few months. Anyone here know of a good contact in Infiniti BMW that can solve the problem once and for all?. Also thinking of writing the BMW higher ups but dont know whom to contact there.

If it isn't a problem with the wipers, then it is the windshield. Get an automotive claybar and clay the windshield to pick up any contaminants on it.

I tried using this liquid called “Glaco Glass Compound Roll On (10308)”. I got it from Amazon and surprisingly it works a charm to remove any contaminates from the windscreen. Clay bar didn’t work for me. Neither did rubbing alcohol.
So the process I used was :
1. Wash windshield with soap. Pressure washer is recommended.
2. Dry windshield till there’s no water at all
3. Use the glaco. Let it stay on the windshield till it’s completely dry ( 5-10 mins depending on weather )
4. Pressure wash it off ( if you don’t have a pressure washer then use a hose but the pressured water helps take it off easier )
5. Throw water on the windshield. If there’s any oil, etc the water will move around it.
6. Glaco that spot and try again.

Basically after doing this the water should run off the windshield seamlessly. The water should not be going around it
Let me know if it works for you

Glaco glass compund works like a charm. I was facing this problem in all my cars including my G20 - applied Glaco and it was all gone. Only issue is that the problem comes back after a few days. While I have a separate cloth for the windscreen, it still seems that some contaminants do flow off to the glass while washing the car or even while driving. So you need to use it every few days.

Also, SONAx windscreen washer helps up to a ceratin extend.

This is a problem with G20 - the apparent fix is cleaing the channels and lubrcating the channels. However, this comes back within a couple of months. Suggest you escalate to BMW India and ask for a complete sunroof replacement or parths therof.

Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

Hello fellow BHPians,

I have been looking to buy a new car for a while (primarily for my self-drive usage) and have taken test drives of pretty much everything ranging from the VW Virtus, VW Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Mahindra XUV700, Merc A and GLA, Audi Q3 Sportback and the BMW 2, new X1 and 3GL. Although most of these are fun cars to drive, nothing came close to the overall 3GL experience - driving, aesthetics and looks all combined. I experienced a YOLO effect and stretched my budget a bit and finally booked the 2023 330Li LCi Petrol in Portimao Blue color earlier this week. The delivery is expected early next week. It's a major upgrade for me from my Black Swift LXi, which is almost at its EOL after 12 years of mostly Bangalore city driving.

I am looking to get an after-market PPF done as added insurance for my 3GL- I have been quoted about 1.4L + GST for self-healing non-yellowing TPU PPF from Bremen and I am told by the PPF garage person this should suffice for almost 7-10 years and there is no need to go for 7 or 10 years and pay extra. This was surprising though coming from the garage guy himself. Another quote I was given is for Hexis for 1.6L+GST for a 7-year warranty. Any insights into this from the expert BHPians would help as I am new to the overall PPF concept. Would you recommend any specific brand and would 5 years be sufficient? Of course, the workmanship matters too.

With my Swift, I haven't been able to take it on highways as I would have liked due to obvious reasons. However, I am looking to take the 3GL for weekend drives with family and friends in and around Bangalore. My average run is not expected to go beyond 7-8k Km. in a year (say 50-50 city and highway driving in and around Bangalore) and I am planning to keep the GL for at least 5 years if not more. BMW offers two types of service maintenance packages - BSI Basic and BSI Plus. In the BSI Plus, you get additional coverage of brake pads, disc brakes, clutch and wiper blades. However, it costs the double of Basic (for the lowest bracket 5years/60k kms. - I was quoted 1.08L for Basic and 2.20L for Plus). Any insights into this from the existing BMW owners would be helpful - should I go for the Basic or the Plus makes sense?

Congratulations. If your running is on lower side go for BSI or you may even give that a skip. Unless you are given as a freebie, BSI may not make much difference compared to paying for yearly service.

It came to 72.5L on-road after some negotiations and discounts. Delivery has moved to mid of this month.

You can get a 530i / 520d at this price. In case you are willing to get GJ / DD passing.

IMO, 5 feels just more accomplished and complete in comparison to the 3! At this price point, you should certainly check out the 5. The sound insulation, ride quality, steering, seats, space (It is certainly a level up in each and every department) The current generation 5 is a looker and is a keeper for a long time.

Request you to take test drive of both the cars and then decide.

Only if you are not looking for Pano sunroof and bigger screens!

We had almost finalized the 520d after negotiation with a dealer in Gujarat. Final price was 72 Lacs on road Incl all.

Thanks Sudeep. I realise that the prices in Gujarat are significantly cheaper than in Bangalore (taxes are very high here). The 5 series is coming close to 85L in Bangalore.

I am eagerly awaiting the Delivery for my 330Li in about a weeks time.

Congrats! That is as good as it gets in this insane world. Can you try for BH registration from another state to cut down your upfront outflow?

Driving a brand new GJ/DD registration luxury vehicle is dicey in BLR unless you have the right contacts. Not worth the stress involved.
