Any issues with car or everyone is on same page? Can the Service guys help with this?
I think that's perfectly OK for the city. An iMT will be less fuel efficient that a normal MT (in my opinion), and this seems to be OK for city running.

Don't think it's a cause for concern.

Re: Hyundai i20 N Line Review

After 3.5 years with ODO at 30K, yesterday after driving for 2 hours and covering 30KMs in Bangalore traffic (Banashankari to Bellandur and back), my Nline DCT stalled in the middle of the road and refused to Start there-after. No previous warnings/issues propped up. I was in D2 and suddenly felt lack of throttle and in 2/3 seconds, it stalled. Luckily i was able to pull it near to the curb before that.Only message on the screen was System Check.

It was around 3PM and traffic was building up. Since I was able to shift gear to N, We (Traffic Cop guy was very helpful and helped me) pushed the Car to a wider road and parked it on the side. He came back after 10 minutes to check and was there with me till Tow Vehicle came.

Hyundai Roadside Assistance number was useless as it kept on prompting inputs before it can direct to.a Human voice! Hence I arranged a Tow vehicle myself and the Service Center was 2KMs away.

Currently the car is in the Service Center (Trident Hyundai JP Nagar) and as per the SA, it looks like Fuel Pump motor issue. Still awaiting confirmation.

Last 2 fills were XP95 only from a place where i frequently fill and most of the times (lets say 90%), I fill XP95 only and goes for the Normal only if XP is not available. Lets see what SA has to say now.

Re: Hyundai i20 N Line Review

Hey guys I am confused between the Kylaq and the I20 Nline N8 DCT. Have test driven both but still confused

Here are some of the queries

1. How much is the actual difference between both having same cc and direct injection, the Hyundai TGDI felt a rougher than the Skoda TSI one?

2. The DCT of Hyundai might give better mileage but reliability is a concern, while the Torque converter on Kylaq won't that great a mileage.

3. How much difference would there be in body roll on corners for Kylaq (got a short test drive couldn't test it out much)

4. Both Signatures plus and N8 DCT are priced almost same, in Kylaq I get more ground clearance but the I20 has more features (Leather seats, paddle shifters, fog lamps, Bose speakers, Electrochrome mirror etc)

5. Have good experience with Hyundai ASS with my current i20 elite, Skoda service I have heard issues.

Usage is mostly weekend drives and trips, in city I use my car sparingly that might change after getting an automatic current usage is 75 highway 25 city.

Thanks

2 things I didn't like when I had test drove i20 N Line:
  • Prominent turbo lag at low speeds followed by a rush once the turbo kicks in. I like linear, predictable response from the engine.
  • Hard steering, which is supposedly 'weighted' to give sporty feel. They feel artificially made heavy.

Stiff suspension is another thing to consider on i20. Suspension on the Kylaq strikes right balance.

Re: Hyundai i20 N Line Review

Here's the 2nd free service invoice for an 2024 N8 DCT (1st year, 10,000Kms service)

Hyundai i20 N Line Review-1image.jpg

Was expecting a cost of around ₹2500, but came out to about ₹4400, mostly on the synthetic oil billed. (Oil seems to be as per manual recommended spec)

Does this sound right?

Re: Hyundai i20 N Line Review

Shell Helix Ultra is the only extra item compared to the 2500/- combination. I would like to know how your car performs with synthetic oil.

Got the 2nd service done for my 2024 N8 DCT back in December, 2024. Total bill was around ₹4500 (wheel alignment + interior deep clean contributed around 2000) for non-synthetic oil.

I am also facing a strange issue with the car since October, 2024 which the service center guys have not been able to fix. The steering has gone soft/loose/vague and is no longer stiff/weighted. Has anyone else faced a similar issue?

The standard response form service center guys is that this is how Hyundai's steering is. I have had two visits to the service center for this now with no solution.

Re: Hyundai i20 N Line Review

Visit a different service center. Anyone who knows N Lines, knows the steering character is different.

Re: Hyundai i20 N Line Review

My N Line is exactly 1.5 years old and covered 45,000 kms - always parked in basements (both at home and office), cleaned with soft water only. Still both boot hinges started rusting. Dealership said "Sir aapki running bahut zayada hai"

A.S.S. will write to Hyundai and ask for warranty repaint approval. Anyone else facing similar issues ?

Hi, shocked to hear about your experience. What was the problem? Has it been sorted out?

Are you under extended warranty?

The given reason doesn’t make sense.
High running should have no effect on rusting. Only exposure to salty weather in coastal area may contribute.

If it’s predominantly highway driving I would personally choose the Kylaq.

The ride and handling is quite well balanced in the Kylaq, more so than in the i20 N-Line.

But it’s the 1.0 TSI engine that stands out for me, as it revs more freely compared to the i20 N-Line, and has something to offer all the way till the redline unlike the Hyundai which seemingly runs out of breath in the top end.

The AT is smooth and a boon in city traffic, but.. if it’s only weekend and highway driving I would be very tempted by the manual.

The extra ground clearance also offers peace of mind when the roads get rough or if you find yourself in unfamiliar territory.

The i20 N-Line is a great city car though, while also being fairly competent on the highway, and the sporty flavour that the N-Line offers does help it make a pretty compelling case for itself. I particularly love the fruity exhaust note and the gorgeous steering wheel!

If you are open to the used market, you could snag a Kushaq / Taigun 1.5 TSI for similar money. Something to consider.

Hi have booked the Kylaq Signature plus will get delivery in next week hope it performs good, was a tough decision.
Kushaq and Taigun 1.5 were on shortlist but my parking space being limited had to go for sub 4m vehicle only.

Re: Hyundai i20 N Line Review

I own a 2024 N-Line DCT and have two queries:

Boot Locking Issue: I came across a discussion mentioning that tightening the bush can resolve boot locking problems. In my case, the boot only closes when I apply significant force, resulting in a loud thud. In contrast, my old Alto’s boot would close effortlessly with a light push. Could any N-Line owners share their insights or possible solutions?

Insurance Renewal: My vehicle’s insurance is due for renewal after a year. The current IDV is shown as ₹9.9L, with a renewal premium quote of ₹32K. When I purchased the vehicle last year, the IDV was ₹11,74,960, and I paid ₹46K for the premium. The provider is SBI, and I have all add-ons, including Zero Depreciation, Consumables, Engine Protect, Return to Invoice, Key Protect, and Personal Belongings. Does this depreciation and premium adjustment seem reasonable, or should I consider other options?

I’d appreciate any advice from experienced owners.

Re: Hyundai i20 N Line Review

N-Line owners, has anyone upgraded the headlights on the 2024 N8 model? The stock headlights are really weak, especially at night. Oncoming SUVs easily blind me, and the poor light throw doesn’t help.

From what I’ve heard, N8 headlight is a sealed unit. Hence, can’t be changed.
Only option is to upgrade Fog lamps to LED Projector.
That’s what I’ve done in mine. Find the result very good.
