Re: 2022 Skoda Kodiaq Facelift Review | 2.0L Petrol DSG

I booked a Kodiaq during the recent 5L offer and had Zekardo do a PDI yesterday, when the car arrived at the dealership. It is a MY23 car with the VIN showing an Aug 2023 manufacturing.

While doing the PDI, the Zekardo technician reported that we saw this error in the vehicle report, saying "Fault: electronic parking brake" and "Auto Hold is unavailable."

When I showed this to the salesman, he sat in the driver seat to check and then said that the engine wasn't turned on causing this to show up, and this error no longer showed up later when he tried it. The Zekardo technician also tried to have this error come up again but it no longer showed the error. Also, he tested the auto hold/hill hold feature and it worked well. He said that everything seemed to be in order now.

Other than this, everything else other than the wipers seemed perfect. The rear wiper was making some noise as the wiper blade was jumping on the surface as it moved, and the front wiper was leaving a minor streak. The salesman said that this issue would be rectified before I took delivery (planned for the coming Sunday).

Do I need to worry about that error that showed up one time during the inspection but not afterwards?

You need not worry about the error code - Kodiaq is robustly built and usually dont have random issues crop up - at least in my own experience and few other friends who have Kodiaqs. Moreover, the vehicles get shipped with default software from the factory that gets updated to the latest version and patches applicable to your VIN prior to delivery.

The wipers are a different matter altogether - my Kodiaq also had a noisy front (right) wiper which I realized only three months after my purchase during the first rains - the dealer managed to fix only about 90% through realignment and still chatters for about bottom 10% of the travel. Insist on changing blades before delivery if the noise persists and don’t agree for them to fix later.

Re: 2022 Skoda Kodiaq Facelift Review | 2.0L Petrol DSG

About to receive my OBDeleven device from my son next week. Got the one with VAG Pro for 1 year. If anyone could kindly guide me to Tweaks programming for our Kodiaq so that I am spared the agony of what works and what doesn't. I am mainly interested in the long programming codes needed and not the paid one click-apps.

There is a separate OBDeleven topic going on this forum, which I am aware of, but I was just looking for Kodiaq specific 8~10 tweaks, hence posting here.

If needed, you can also PM me, if uncomfortable posting here. But best would be to post here so that all the members here can benefit.

Many Thanks in advance.

Cheers...

Went to the service center today, and came back with mixed feelings. First, the great bits:

I explained to the service advisor about my issue with the upcoming trip taking the car beyond the 15K limit by the time I am back from my trip. He was quite understanding, and gave me two options:

a. The dealer can take a deviation confirmation from Skoda for upto an extra usage of 3K km and one month. They can then do the service after I am back.

b. Record the service now as I asked, but keep the oil and filter with me and then do the actual oil change after I am back.

After all I had horror stories that I had heard abt Skoda service, I was delighted with this response. Anyway, I chose the second option since i am changing oil every 7.5K anyway, and I really did not want to add a delayed service in the records.

They finished inspection, replaced the pollen filter and returned the car in a couple of hours. Also gave me 5 1L cans of oil and the oil filter, and asked me to bring those back after the trip, for oil change. I asked about the quantity of oil being 5.7L, but they said that they will top up the 0.7L fraction from their stock during the oil change. Awesome!

Now the not-so-great bits:

1. I came home, let the car cool down and opened the bonnet for customary fluid checks etc. All levels were fine, but there is no way to check the level on the wiper washer fluid - I called up the advisor and asked whether the fluid was topped up, and he told me (quite frankly, and I appreciate the honesty) that they are out of washer fluid and the technician might have topped up with water!! I asked what kind of water, and he did not understand the question. They could have just told me, and I might have tried to get the fluid from VW or filled from my purifier.

2. A part of the cladding behind the engine seems to be hanging a little loose. I had heard a rattle for a few minutes on my last trip to Bangalore, and it had gone away after that. I did not find anything when I checked then. Anyway, it looks like a screw/fastener rattled and fell off. I compared with engine bay pics that folks had posted earlier in this thread, and it does look like a fastener is off. Sent the pics to the advisor - might have to take the car again tomorrow to get this fixed.

The advisor has suggested engine bay cleaning and AC vent cleaning along with the oil change. Should I do this? Maybe I will get the engine bay cleaned, but maybe too early for AC vents - the pollen filter they replaced was not too dirty anyway.

AC vent cleaning is a scam. Nobody does that abroad.

And that is just a plastic lock missing in your engine bay picture, commonly used in many Japanese cars too. Just look for a another similar un-detached plastic lock in your engine bay and you could just pick up that 2 Rs. part from any spare part dealer or get it changed at your workshop, as you are comfortable with.

Thank you. Just got an update from the technician that this lock is not present in cars that were sold in late 2023 or later. He said that the cables are tied and routed further to the right than earlier cars where the cables were fastened to the cladding. He is sure that nothing has come off and told me that I can drive without any issue. Hope he is right.

If you are still phobic, measure the hole diameter with a SS scale and buy a plastic lock clip like this of the required diameter, easily available on Amazon etc. -

This a 8mm lock clip -

Hello folks, wanted to check if the 5L offer still stands? I will be buying it in Mumbai, most probably the Sportline Trim.

Re: 2022 Skoda Kodiaq Facelift Review | 2.0L Petrol DSG

Time to renew insurance, the first renewal for my Kodiaq. The two best quotes I have are from Oriental and United. As per my local Skoda dealer, Oriental has cashless with them (and maybe with a few other dealers), and United is Skoda partner insurance and has cashless coverage at all dealers. Oriental has a limit of 2 nil-dep claims per year, United does not have that.

I am going for return to invoice, nil depreciation, consumables coverage, engine and gearbox coverage, and key loss coverage, and my NCB is at 20%. Oriental is quoting around 63K and United around 78K (all inclusive of GST), with an IDV of 31.8L. Only own-damage is needed, since my existing 3rd party coverage is valid until end of 2026.

Essentially, it looks like 15K excess for country-wide cashless processing and greater than 2 nil-dep claims per year.

Most of my major drives are long ones with more than 80% of mileage on out-of-state drives, so I am leaning towards United. But also wondering if most major Skoda dealers process cashless claims with Oriental.

Any inputs? Does the overall figure look reasonable? Any major factors I am missing?

While I am not aware of the offer validity as on date, I believe only L and K trims are available since many months.

Two things I would suggest which are part of the Skoda insurance offered to me with the new car.
1. Engine protect during the flood damage (unless your engine and gearbox coverage covers that).
2. Alloy wheels protect. It depends on your driving style but being an SUV and heavy vehicle, it may be required.

My insurance is from ICICI Lombard given by the Skoda dealer, so not sure of the Oriental.

Mods, please merge this reply with the new one above. My apologies that I made back to back reply. (I am not sure how to modify now.)

Totally agree. Suspension on comfort is not actually comfortable at highway speeds especially over undulations - too much body movement. My wife also noticed and pointed it out.

I mostly keep it at normal and only use comfort at low speeds over broken roads and even on broken roads if there are bigger craters on the road I revert to normal to minimise the body and side to side movement.

Yes, 5L offer is back from yesterday again. It was 4L in between after the 19th Nov 5L offer. Now it's back but only L&K trim is available in stock since many months now. And only White is in stock, if you are lucky you will get VIN23 but MY2024.

I got my White L&K delivered yesterday, booked on 19th Nov in the 5L offer.

Congratulations. White looks gorgeous. It also has advantage of heat reflection in our sunny country. Would suggest adding the CR70 film further for improving the AC, change the AC profile to high, adjust the sound profile and you will simply love your drive.

For the last 2 steps, please refer earlier posts by fellow T-BHPins for details.

Make sure you have engine & gearbox / transmission covered.

If you deliberately drive through flooded waters, flood claim may be rejected.
