Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

The car looks like someone from hyundai has designed it. The alloy wheels look cartoonish while the front looks so overdone. The previous safari was a looker and was a timeless design. This certainly wont age well. While i am all for the updated features but the mechanicals of the car are still not tempting. The engine is no match to XUV700 and the lack of 4x4 is a blot on the name of the legendary Safari.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

Lovely review as always. What an update and already beautiful looking Harrier looks even better now, though aesthetic choices vary from person to person. I am not sure how the neon interior will age though in Indian conditions.

Does the wireless charging spot that would be used heavily for wireless carplay and android auto come with cooling? I do remember seeing air vents in youtube reviews. Without cooling, the whole wireless functionality would go down the drain, as we have seen in other cars.

I'm not sure what cooling solution is used, but my phone (Android), nor my wife's phone(apple) ever got hot when wireless charging with Android auto/Carplay wirelessly connected. This was during a 200km drive. I'm assuming the new Harrier also uses the same tech, since it looks the same.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

Anyone else feels they have tried a little too hard on the interiors? The steering is a joke IMO with that light logo and the abominable black plastic thing that they have plastered not only on the steering wheel center but also on the dash next to the buttons. That thing is going to get so scratchy and is a finger prints magnet. Superficially there are lots of aesthetically pleasing things in the interior but it seems when closely inspected, the quality is not what it should be from what I've seen from various reviews.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

Guys above 5'10 are guaranteed left knee pain while driving Harrier and Safari. The low placement of dash with poor contouring is the issue. Surprising Tata did not make any effort in correcting the same. I rejected Safari with in 5 minutes of test drive due to this issue.

The interiors can be termed 'gaudy' at the best. Wrong colors at wrong places. Over use of piano black, overdesign of simple things like steering wheel etc make your eyes very tiring. QC is very inconsistent. It always depend on what sample you end up with. If some guy in assembly line was having a bad day, you may end up with a lemon.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

I feel they should not have made changes to the steering and AC controls at all. Piano black is going to leave a lot of scratches and fingerprints. I still feel Hyundai Venue has a very nice, sophisticated dashboard, better than Creta too(the automatic climate control looks out of place), the touch screen and automatic climate control looks rich and uses knobs to control it. At least AC and music control is something that need not be digitalized so much. We already have a two touchscreens facing us and now these controls in touch too. Tata ASS is getting better but they are not trained to handle electronics and seeing so much tech in the facelift makes me think of how buyers are going to be left stranded when the people at the service centres themselves are not trained adequately.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

One of the main reason I upgraded to a Pre-worshipped MG Hector (2020 Diesel) as my Twister-3.0 is that I couldn't drive a Manual Harrier comfortably for the left knee rubbing issue with its dashboard console. I am 6'3'' and had terrible time driving a Tata Harrier From Durg to Raipur (around 50kms) two months back, it was an immediate turn off.

Safari Dicor used to be my favorite car during college days and had dreamt of buying one with my first salary post engineering. Only Later did I realise that starting salaries in India were meant for hand to mouth only (year 2009) . Now that I can afford one and like Harrier more than Safari, I was desperately looking forward to Tata fixing this issue in the uplift version so that after 2 years I could upgrade to a pre-worshipped and fixed Harrier for my Twister-4.0

Seems like I would have to wait more.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

Brilliant work by Tata.
In fact, Harrier scored the best in the ratings. Other 5 star cars are nowhere near Harrier in terms of points.
Harrier has 78.05 points out of possible 83, the next best is Slavia/Virtus with 71.71 points.
Kudos to Tata!
XUV 700 is going to suffer a lot and Hector sales may even go down by half.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier Facelift Review

Wasn't there some issue with the engine where in the event of a frontal crash the placement of the oil pan(?) makes it likely for the driver to get seriously injured? How did they fix that since the engine is from jeep.

Brilliant work from Tata and the fact that no one saw thing was coming! How much impact does the new knee airbag would have had on this?!
