Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Found this informative and there were no more technical details online, hence being curious posting it here in case anyone has more information: https://www.autofans.in/2024/05/mahi...s-decoded.html

Mahindra XUV 3XO:
Uses the updated Aisin Gen 3 6-speed automatic transmission, which offers smoother shifts and slightly better fuel efficiency than the older Gen 2 model. This has a wider angle and enhanced damping; these changes reduce the “draggy” feeling and provide a more comfortable drive with lower fuel use compared to older transmissions with the gated shifter.

Any Idea what is the difference between the two gearboxes?
Is Mahindra giving us more value at almost the same price by offering a new gen TC?
The 3XO Owner's manual speaks of Shift lock, Are there any such feature differences between both TC versions?

The left is the Basalt Gated TC and the Right is the Gen 3 3XO Straight shift Asin TC.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

The other day I saw a few 3x0 on the highway and realised that the rear indicators are barely visible during the day time. It isn't too bright and the amber color hides in the red tail lights. I thought it could be an issue with one car but then I noticed it on few other cars during the day. Anyone felt the same?

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Hi All,

I was hoping a fellow 3X0 owner or anyone who knows about it could answer two urgent queries that I have on the car.

1. Have you observed that the steering feedback on this car has a weird transition at around 60kmph?

Before I rant any further please note that my reference point is my old Honda City 3rd Gen AT that honestly blows the 3X0 out of the water on steering feedback.

I was initially driving the car in Bengaluru traffic (honestly drove it for less than 50kms) and the steering was like any other modern EPS unit setup for Indian driving conditions...too light almost like we are using a joystick to control the car.

I then took the car on a trip to my home town and used the Bengaluru Mysore expressway. I distinctly felt the steering gain additional weight once my speed crossed the 60kmph mark. Honestly, in Zap mode it was too tight for comfort. Not really an issue since at most you are only changing one lane at a time or navigating a soft curve on the road.

In Kerala though (what with the tight turns we have here and the quick steering inputs you need to make to dodge the maniacal bus drivers) the steering feedback actually turned out pretty decent. Our speeds here though are pretty low.

So, i was thinking that it this odd steering behavior might be due to the calibration that Mahindra engineers have done.

Note: Can't believe Honda was able to calibrate that beauty of a steering with such progressive feedback in both city and highway driving conditions more than a decade ago.

Is this really the best Mahindra can do or is there something wrong with my steering/tyre alignment etc?

2. I have noticed that all the doors and the boot have this rubber piece stuck into what I assume are the drain channels (photo attached). Do you guys also see the same thing on your car or did the Mahindra dealership mess up during the PDI?

3XO petrol AT owner here. Here are my observations:

1. Driven over 3800 km in this car and mostly on highways. I feel that the steering weighs up after 35-40 kmph and becomes tighter progressively (don't know whether linearly) till about 80-90 kmph (Zap mode). I have been driving a Jazz earlier for about 15 years. The steering at higher speeds does seem to be tighter than in Jazz. However I did not feel any discomfort because of this while changing lanes or taking a turn.

2. I went and had at a look at the boot door and two other doors. Did not find anything like what you have marked in the photograph. Everything seemed to be in order.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

I somehow feel that the waiting period figures quoted by dealers or by Mahindra are not true. I had booked AX5 AT in Nebula Blue on 26th August for which the vehicle got alloted on 18th October and got delivery last week. A friend of mine had booked on 4th October and today he got a call from dealer saying the vehicle is alloted to him in just 4 weeks whereas the waiting period is about 26 weeks now. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks. Here are a few more pics of the drain channels plugs (i guess that what these things are). On all the doors i can see that one plug is removed and the other is left behind. On the boot though both plugs have been left in as is.

Just to reconfirm your don't see the small black foam inserts on any of your doors/boot drain channels?

I guess I better check the sunroof plugs. So much for the vaunted Mahindra PDI process that the sales guy/manager keep harping about .

Upon checking again found two foam inserts in two doors. None on the boot door though.

The PDI by the dealership is not great. In my car the SVS ECU was not working and they had not checked it. I also did not check it in the excitement of getting a new car and had to make two extra trips to the ASC to get it fixed.

Well, the waiting period for some models is somewhat true. The base MX1 model (which I booked over 3 months ago is nowhere in sight for another few months as they say) and the VFM AX5 model too.

Many times, it so happens that the car arrives at showroom and for some reason the allotted person doesn't take delivery (Delay in loan sanction, Color not liked, already looking at a different brand, having second thoughts etc) so, such cars go to the others waiting. It has happened many times..

The production of 3XO per month I think is in the vicinity of 6000-6500 units per month and now ROXX line is also busy. So, all lines are running full steam and there must be atleast 50,000 3XO in waiting list. So it's just providence that one got delivery of his car earlier than anticipated. I might be wrong in this analysis, but this is what I think could have happened.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Folks From Pune/Pimpri Chinchwad, Which Mahindra dealership is the best. I'm looking for hassle free car buying experience. So far I have inquired for 3XO AX7L AT at SavanIB Autowings Bhosari. The quoted on road price is 18.62L including 25k of accessories, 62k Insurance, 1% TCS and all.
The sales person told me that the waiting period is minimum 2 months and could go upto 4 months, but they have a unit available for immediate delivery in my preferred color.
My question is how could dealer have free stock when there is this huge waiting period. Could it be some rejected unit from other customer because of failed PDI ? How safe is it to go for such cars in free stock ?
This is my first car purchase ever, so I'm bit skeptical.

There is a foul smell of plastic burning near the bonnet. Is it normal for a new car or should I reach out to the dealer or service centre?
Secondly, the bonnet became too hot after 10km of driving. Again, is this something to worry?
Thanks.
The burning smell means your engine was run in for the first time. Its a good sign. Do not worry.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Hello All,
Can any recent buyers of 3XO in Bangalore, please confirm if PDI by third party service providers like Zekardo was allowed? I approached couple of dealers in Whitefield area and they flatly refused to entertain outside vendors. Also, I felt the dealers here are allowing the PDI (self) only after it reaches the showroom (after a substantial amount has been paid) and not in the stockyard. I haven’t paid any extra amount apart from the initial booking money and would like to hear from the other members here. Thanks

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

PPS Mahindra Kanakapura Road did not allow a third party PDI when I bought my AX7L Petrol AT 20 days ago. They offered either a PDI at their stockyard across the city, which they kept discouraging and postponing the approval. Finally, they delayed enough and told me the PDI can be done at the showroom one day before delivery, which means after all accessories are fitted! I took the risk and did the PDI of the stationary car at a compound near showroom. Mainly checked the month of manufacture from VIN, Odometer, outer body and interior condition, panel gaps etc. from team-bhp checklist. I was relieved as the car was in mint condition with just 59km on the Odometer. Rest of document checking etc I did during delivery.

Many in this group advised me not to accept the showroom PDI as it is just the name sake. You have no option to reject as the registration would have been done already. PPS Mahindra delayed PDI so much (two weeks) after full payment, that I almost thought I will insist on stockyard, pre-registration PDI. Somehow, I took the risk and it worked.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

Hi Everyone,

Have started experiencing a weird thing with my 3XO. Wanted to understand if anyone has any inputs or advice in this regard.

This is a MX3 Petrol TCMPFI engine with Automatic Transmission. It has been driven for over 3500 kms since I got in late August and I have enjoyed every bit of driving it.

Since the last 50-60 kms, I have noticed that the engine feels strained at every point and is always pushing itself to a higher rpm than I had noticed earlier. The rpm goes to 2500, then shifts the gear, almost with a jerk leading to a very much noticeable head nod. I'm a light footed driver and hardly ever floors the pedal. The throttle input I give is also disproportionately low for this rpm increase.

Furthermore, there is a considerable delay in the gearshift now. Mostly between 2-3, if I'm counting that right.

The steering wheel also gets extremely heavy once this happens. It used to gain this additional weight as the speed increased earlier as well. But this again is disproportionate to the speed(30-40 kmph). I have felt a similar weight at say 60-80 kmph.

I have also noticed the engine vibrations becoming more evident inside cabin when idling(I get reminded of the Kerala KSRTC buses which has this rhythmic vibrations, when I'm waiting in the Bengaluru traffic). I'm also hearing a strained sound from the engine while driving.

I call this weird, as this started happening without any probable cause, around 7- 8 days before, out of the blue. I have hardly ever noticed the gearshifts before and the steering

My initial hypothesis was that I unknowingly shifted to the Zoom Mode. But, that wasn't the case, it was always in the ZAP mode. And also, as I understood these are steering modes and shouldn't effect the RPM discrepancy that I am observing.

Had taken the car to the Singasandra Service Centre yesterday but couldn't get a service advisor. Have booked a slot tomorrow.

But do share any thoughts or advice.

Re: 2024 Mahindra XUV 3XO Review

MX2 Pro AT Petrol.
Barely 2 months old.
Odo at 1.3k.

2nd instance of happening:
I stop the car and the engine shuts down. Then I switch off this feature located at the RHS of the steering wheel. The whole car shuts down and all the caution lights on the dash are displayed.

Both the times what happened was I stepped out, locked the car and waited for about 10 minutes and retried, and the car started working fine.

I am super concerned about the reliability.

Anyone else experience this?

What could be the cause?

By the way, the first time it happened was right after a car wash.

Thanks.
