Definately sir.. It would be nice to see the pictures of your chetak. Chetaks and Supers which retain the original rectangular handlebar are hard to see these days.

Really nice scooter. I like the color as well - unobtrusive and elegant.
Congratulations!

Re: Vespas and Vespas only

Can anyone recommend a good place in Mysore for tinkering & painting & mechanical works for a Vespa in Mysore?

Thanks,

Can't seem to read the name clearly, but was it a Bajaj Viking by any chance? Bajaj used to import the Chetak to the USA rebranded and retuned as the Viking. I owned one so I know. Grandad had managed to get one through a chance of luck when his original Chetak booking didn't go through.

kevinphraim, I have no idea about the scooter. I went to see the July 4 parade and saw this scooter parked neatly.

Thanks,
Jose.

Re: Nostalgic automotive pictures including our family's cars

These are a couple of scooters I spotted in the US. Was totally fascinated by the condition and the details. Would love to hear more about these if anyone here has any info. Thanks.
*Mods - please move this to the appropriate thread if required - I thought this was Nostalgic and automotive *

Re: Vespas and Vespas only

I finally got the bug, or should I say wasp, too. Picked up a '68 150 over the holiday. Runs great but needs a little TLC (a little front shimmy, etc). The paint looks original the body is in pretty decent shape. Once I do a bit of cleanup, I'll post a few pics.

I was seriously thinking of getting the new Vespa but the price is just a bit too high right now -- especially considering that it lacks a front disc brake.

Re: Vespas and Vespas only

On this site I found the Vespa Serial Numbers from '46-71. Can one assume that these also correspond to the ones produced in India?

In my "new" '68 150, the original certificate of registration/fitness shows Chassis number 63010 and Engine number 61668. This seems to jibe with the what's on the above referenced site (1968 VBC1T 61497 80740).

I'm confused because the number that I see stamped on the drive shaft is something like "04BS 000167". What do I make of this? Non-original engine? Replaced with a Bajaj swing arm?

Thanks.
