Definitely the Wagon R's fault. Which camera is this?

However the one constant in all the 3 stories is the killer car being a volvo :-). Looks like these journalists just hear bits and pieces of the story and print it without bothering to verify the information & facts
I am surprised that someone actually googled up the complete story. Those were my first thoughts when I did a search. Different victim names, different car details, different scenarios which led to the crash. Each media house publishing the news to their own whims and fancies. But I guess this is what sells these days. People will be more interested in knowing that a Volvo killed someone. Whom and how? well, no one cares it seems.

These days, there's a new breed of freelance journalists cropped up in the cities. They seem to appear out of nowhere at such crash sites shooting with their mobile phones and quoting the crowd gathered around.

Few days back, I couldn't believe my ears when one such JOURNALIST posted a live video of a crash site and called the Ecosport a 'TITANIUM gaadi'

Talk about credibility, sigh!

I don't deny that, but the pressure is higher to publish it online as and when it happens to catch the "trending" tag. The print version even today, would usually go through a lot of correction and verification.

This looks horrible. I have noticed that these Tempo Travellers are almost always in a hurry to overtake regardless of the traffic ahead.

Saw this Duster which looked like it rear ended a truck. It was parked at the Appa junction entry ramp leading into the ORR. No idea of the details of the accident.

Found this badly mangled Omni yesterday. Lucknow Faizabad highway near BBD university.

Apologies for poor quality photos, they're taken from Dashcam footage.

Not clear from the video, but the news report states that the bus collided with the scooter in an attempt to overtake it.

The i20 has taken all the weight but hasn't crushed like a tin can.

@ Tom Sooraj
The truck was probably empty, and that's probably what saved the car from further damage.

Thank God, it was not Baleno.. Ah, - no offence to Baleno owners. Just kidding on the build quality discussion that may about to start.

Rahul
Anyways, it was a Truck! Had it been a Maruti, we would have concluded it to be a loaded truck. There exists a Linea in this thread with a fully loaded dumper(with stones) on its roof.

Commendable for i20 to have held its ground . But we have to consider the angle at which truck is leaning, that has also helped a bit in not crushing i20.Had car been a bit deeper, truck would have been on top of it.

Yes, that 2009 accident is the first thing that came to my mind. It had happened in Karnataka (near Puttur I guess). The fully loaded lorry had overturned on the hapless Linea but the excellent build quality of the car had saved the occupants.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

I have very little trust in Indian car manufacturers and the structural engineering of their cars. Who knows what trade-offs have been made to make cars, inexpensive? A roll cage might be a good investment, as ridiculous as it sounds. Especially for people who travel a lot.

I wouldn't judge Hyundai's build quality from these pictures, but I do remember that all their made for India cars so far tested have scored a big zero in the Global NCAP tests.
