Yes that was my car in the middle. Facilities claim to have taken care of the menace now, though i am not taking any chances yet by parking there.

I stay at Indirapuram, Ghaziabad which is next to Sector 63, Noida. Traffic sense is pitiable here and so are the roads.

There is a CISF road here which connects Indirapuram to Noida, via NH24. The problem is that due to lack of enough police men there, AND due to a serious lack of infrastucture(roads/flyovers/slip roads) the amount of traffic is huge at peak hours.

The road has a road divider in middle, which has gaps after every some distance. So what happens is that people, to avoid the jam(and act smart), start moving on the wrong side road going in the wrong direction road. Sometimes, there are a police man or two at the end of road trying to "give an impression" of law inforcement. At that time the people take on of the road divider gaps, and try to merge back into the regular road. If the police men are not there, they actually get out of the road much faster by going in the wrong direction. in fact policemen actually help them get out before us on the right side, else they might block the traffic coming from the other side!!!

Are we idiots who adhere by traffic laws and wait patiently in the jam for half an hour, by being on the right side of the road? So, if I get a chance, I try my best to block a vehicle trying to merge back into the correct side of the road on seeing a police man farther on his wrong side. I do not let him merge in to make him reliaze a bit that what he did was wrong.

It is becuase of the educated people who take such mindless action o road, that jams get even worst and chaotic.


Other things I remember avoiding:
1) Water containers. They almost never have lids on top, and the water splashes around in gallons all around.

2) Busses. Its way too common for people to emit pan pichkaris, without looking if it is landing on us poor car owners.

3) What also irritates me to no end are people who start honking as soon as the red light is ABOUT to turn green. Do they think I have stopped at the red-light to have a cup of tea that I would not move on once there is space in front of me and the light has turned green?

4) Patience and courtsy. In comparision to the developed nations, this is completely lacking here. Lets say I am at a crossing where cars are arriving from 3 sides. I usually slow down and let a few vehicles to pass, or specially larger vehicles to pass to avoid a deadlock/jam. This, I seldom see from other people. No body is ready to give anybody side, no body allows anybody to merge, everybody wants to move out first. Bad.

If there is a timer. they start any time after about five seconds to go. They can't wait for five seconds?

Even I stay at Indirapuram and I totally agree to what is written above. There is an underpass below NH24 near Shipra Mall. Its a narrow underpass and only two hatches can comfortably cross at a time so people generally cross at very slow speed.Left lane climbs up to NH24 while right lane goes through underpass. Now usually there will be a huge line waiting for their turn for underpass. Seeing this line people change lane and climb up to NH24 only to find huge traffic there. Now they will come down wrong side and force their way to the underpass traffic. Add rickshaws, cycles and bikes and its a mess.

To be accurate, 3 were 165/65x13 and one was 175/70x13

That car looks every inch a badly maintained car and no wonder it sports different size tyres. Road side puncturewallas/tyre mentors also are responsible for this kind of stuff.

May be the owner is the culprit. Perhaps qualifies for "Bad owners how to spot them' thread.

Jokes apart, he is a real bad driver. See in the first picture it is travelling on two lanes.

I have been observing for sometime that people think that Roads are made for them and don't care about what happens to other. My series of rants:

Today I was getting down a flyover when a Laura cut into my lane. The driver did not even have a common courtesy to apologize. Not only that he was looking at me as if I should not be driving on the road. Seriously how rude can people be.

Yesterday while driving near Bandra I saw a Audi R8 being escorted by 4 Men. Those guys were guarding it and trying to see that no vehicle kisses it, Common it is a public road, however bigwig they think they r does not give them right to behave like that. If u like ur car so much either drive it when road is empty or just keep it in your garage (MH 2 BP 1- by the way any idea whose R8 is this)

Cigarette Tapping. If u have a car use the ash tray man. It is really irritating when you are wearing a neatly pressed black trouser for a meeting and some idiot taps cigarette ahead of you. Once I told the driver not to do it because wind is blowing it on my face. He was sorry but the next second the moron does the same thing again.

Finally kisses on my bull. First time it happened I was like oh my new bike etc. But now I have just given up on it. 3 out 7 times I was hit when I was stationary waiting for the signal to turn green. It is not like my bike is invisible

This one really bugs me: You see a pedestrian (maybe school children, mom carrying a baby, old couple, whatever...) stepping onto the road with the intention of crossing over to the other side. You slow-down and come to a halt allowing them to pass. They look at you and smile too, quietly acknowledging your actions and thanking you for your courtesy.

NOW, the traffic behind you is wild with frenzy. How dare somebody give way to pedestrians, mere people, you know, who can't even afford to own vehicles. Several of vehicles manage to overtake you cutting of the crossing pedestrian(s), drivers honking and glaring at you for your stupidity.

I have invented special gadgets to deal with such inconsiderate drivers, but unfortunately, I cannot reveal them here or I'd be labeled a pervert and be banned from these forums forever.

You are lucky; couple of times I did this ended up with the pedestrians feeling insulted and waving me to move on! Guess for them an Alto stopping to give them right of way was over the top!

If you drive on Pune Mumbai Expressway drivers to avoid -

1. Private Volvos - driving continuously in overtaking lane @ 160 kmph
2. Drivers with non-MH private licence plates - in all probability these creatures are on this stretch for the first time and want to enjoy that freedom. They drive at whatever speed in whatever available space.
3. Early in the morning on mondays MUVs (Bolero, Sumo, etc) packed with people. These are groups visiting pilgrimage places on sat sun and returning to Mumbai. Driver is always sleepy and may wader off the track.
4. All big foreign make cars - BMWs, AUDIs, etc. may be a brat is driving and want to show off the power (of vehicle and money). In fact I have seen one asking the police when being penalised for driving @ 180 kmph - "Why do you make such good roads if you cant allow us to drive fast on them?" (I was there being penalised for driving at poor 90 kmph and I also argued that he must pay double the fine for driving so fast. How fool I was!)

My friend, those Volvo buses dont go above 110kmph as far as I know. They are limited to that.

What ive noticed on the expressway is that if you flash your headlights or they notice a faster car coming, people actually give way, which was a pleasant surprise to me.

Of course there are a few idiots who will merge in front of a fast moving car without looking.

oh yeah stopping for pedestrians especially at pedestrian crossing signals seems to be a serious crime. Somehow in India we are brought up with the notion that right of way depends on the CC of vehicle u own rather than humans first

One morning Found a vacant parking spot to the right of this alto. But looking the way it was parked, I chose not to park besides it. . .

So when I drove in the silver Zen and the Silver Alto were parked. Initially I thought the guy was in a rush, looking at the way his tyres and the overall position of the car.

*The entrance to the car parking is to the LHS so the cars come from the side of the Zen.





Thought maybe he had a meeting or a call and had to rushed in - screeched in the parking and dashing indoors. I just clicked the pics later as it was hilarious.

But found that the guy parks his car almost similarly everyday. (Today was an exception- the car was parked pretty well today)

I spent many years in Mumbai, and have spent the last 3 years in Bangalore. I find that in Bangalore/South of Bangalore people have absolutely crappy driving manners. Mumbai folks know basic rules and don't act funny. Here, big vehicles drive on the right, slow vehicles drive on the right, all sorts of vehicles come the ulta way, and worst, people don't even know they are doing something wrong.

One is forced to overtake from the left. And then you have folks coming the ulta way. Ridiculous.
