Vikarabad

Was told that there is a place called Vikarabad some 100 ~ 150 kms from Hyderabad. Its suppossed to be a forest kinda place where you need to carry your on supplies... Wonder how safe the place is though... Will get a full report from the person who suggested this place to me and keep you posted when I do....

If its the same place as en route to Srisailam which is about 175km from Hyderabad. It has been blasted by Naxals a few years ago. Fortunately, i got to spend a long weekend their before it happened. Thick forest, no electricity, lovely barbecue facilities and surrounded just by " nature"

If its not the same place, look forward to your inputs for this new place that your suggesting.

there is another place called ananthagiri hills while going to vikarabad around 80kmph from hyderabad. It was once a very famous place, but now after a TB hospital has come up there, the govt. of AP started discouraging tourism there and hence people forgot the place. May be people above 50 years may have some information about it.
We once been there for a long drive, though didnt stayed there for long but, it was an awesome place. I think somewhere in this forum or another forum .... (may be in orkut) I have seen pictures taken by a member who knows the place.

Runway 9 is in Hyderabad, and does not qualify for a weekend trip.
What Avinash is looking for is places outside Hyderabad/ Sec/bad

re: places near hyd

There are two more places that I can think of.
First one is called Basar. It's around 200 km from Gachibowli and took ~5 hrs for me to reach there.
Second one is Belium Cave. This one is around 320 km from hyd.

Wow, Yash ( rider60), you sure know how to dig up an old thread

Mohandas, i have been to Basar several times, the last one during Jan'08. Bellam caves sounds interesting, should give it a try sometime soon.
