thanks Toiing.. should be able to take a lot of pics as I am taking three cameras Two are digital and one is an old school Practika MTL3 which I got serviced just for this trip. However I am not sure about the quality of pics that I will be able to take with it as it is my first stint with an SLR

Don't carry too many cameras. It becomes a liability if you have too many things hanging around you. And do not carry the SLR if you are not very comfy with it. Its better to have the digitals. You will get an instant feedback and may very well get the chance to do a retake.

I hope you have taken care of small knick-knacks like having sufficient water with you (fill up half a dozen 2lt beverage bottles), things to munch on the way, checking small things like working fogs, toolkit in place, around 10-12 metres of thick rope, one rod/stick of at least 3-4ft length, a swiss knife, spare fuses and such stuff.

Thanks Zappo for reminding about the list - had forgotten about the rope and fuses. No way of getting fuses now (can only hope that nothing goes wrong), but will get the rope.

Dada, photo tulben na drive korben !!! Take the best of the three cameras otherwise you might loose your cameras (it will become liability)
Tyre Pressure (2-3psi more than recommended), dont forget the spare one, carry a rope as Zappo said...

Now carry lots of food and Water-Water-Water (Jol rakhte bhulben na, 20lit kit would have been nice), chocolates, dry fruits, extremely handy if you want to enjoy the long consistent stretches...also keep extra pair of bulbs (if noy buy them in Hyd)

Dugga Dugga !! I am sure you will enjoy every moment !!

Uh, oh... you forgot did you? In fact fuses are something you probably should have with you on such a long journey. Try and see naa? When are you leaving? Later at night/early morning, right? Why do not you check at the nearest MASS or even a spares shop?

And since you forgot a couple of things, did you take a working torch? Thats a real must. Goes without doubt that you must carry all the original documents (DL, RC Book, Insurance and PUC certificate) in your bag. Keep two copies of these, one in the dash and the other set should be elsewhere (may be in another bag different from the one with originals).

Edit: Guys, we have started sounding as if we are the ones embarking on the journey. haa haa haaaa. We are more anxious than him. And I am having the urge to be there at late night when he finally puts his bags in the boot and leaves kolkata. Pretty infectious, this thing is...

@Zappo - all original documents and photocopies taken. Carrying two torches, one regular one with batteries and the other one plugs into the cigarette lighter.
This really is infectious and really hope to see akroy at Vizag.. Shall log off now and do some serious packing

That's my primary concern @planet.

That is really a concern. And on the top of it our client from UK has decide to throw a party tonight and I have to attend it. They have preponed it because I will not be there next week, so there is no option for me but to attend. Hopefully I will manage to get out early. Everything has to happen now . By the way, one good news is that Ma has been able to find the old number plates, so one less concern now.
Anyway, thanks a lot everybody for the inputs and well wishes. Will start posting with pics from tomorrow .

There is a possiblility of having rains tomorrow in Orissa because of low depression. Hence be prepared for the same. Have 1 or 2 umbrellas to be on safe side.

Have a safe journey........
