I have driven on this route from Agra to Ahmedabad. The road is very good. Four lane with some stretches of two lane from Agra to Jaipur, and then six lane upto Kishanghad followed by four lane upto Ahmedabad. You should turn off from NH8 on the bypass from Udaipur to NH76 and NH79 which takes you close to Chittaurgarh and then through Bhilwara (bypass) to Kishangadh. The road is well signposted and is in very good condition. I had driven from Delhi (left at 10am: Sunday) to Ahmedabad (arrived 0100: Monday).

Have a great drive.

Can you mention what stretch between Agra-Jaipur is 4-lane? I always thought it was a 2-lane. (I am referring to Agra-Bharatpur-Dausa-Jaipur sector)

Wow! This is really great. Never realised it was entirely 4-laned. That gives lots of options for good cross routing options. If and only Agra city had a good bypass from EW -> NH2 -> NH11 -> NH3

Instead of getting trapped inside Agra City, you can turn off NH11 at Bharatpur & go via Mathura to join the Yamuna Expressway to Noida/ Delhi. THis is a route I keep recommending to those who wish to travel from Jaipur towards Delhi (east side) instead of the congested NH8.

Hi Guys,

Any one recently did a Mumbai - Bhopal - Mumbai by road ?
I am planning to drive down to Bhopal and return, Just wanted to know the road conditions and time taken for one side drive & total kms, Google Maps quote around 760 Kms.

I have heard the highway is very good and four lane.

Thanks.

Mumbai - Nashik - Malegaon - Dhule - Indore - Dewas - Bhopal

I think Mumbai - Nashik should see traffic. Malegon onwards its good road till Pithampur. Dewas to Bhopal is again good 4-lane.

re: Mumbai to Bhopal : Route Queries

Thanks Ampere !

I have driven Mumbai Nasik multiple times, so i am aware about the road till Nasik.

My concern was majorly road ahead and specially after monsoon the roads go for a toss.

Any updates does anyone have on the dacoit prone area on this Highway ?
Where and When to be cautious, I plan to start early morning from Mumbai around 4-5 AM and reach Bhopal by 6 in eve.

re: Mumbai to Bhopal : Route Queries

Route Update:
  • Excellent tarmac all the way.
  • 4 lanes throughout. Only Dewas bypass is 2 lane undivided.
  • Poorly designed rumblers / speed breakers at junctions and road openings in MP
  • Moderate to low traffic.
  • Travel time during the day: 10 hours driving + breaks
  • Fastag works except at Bhiwandi toll plaza. Indore - Bhopal toll plazas will start accepting Fastag from April 1

re: Mumbai to Bhopal : Route Queries

Hi All,

Planning to drive (TATA Safari 2.2) to MUMBAI from BHOPAL on 10th December via Bhopal - Indore - Dhule - Nasik - Igatpuri - Thane - Mumbai.

Need help on the following points:
1. Is the route (Bhopal - Indore - Dhule - Nasik - Igatpuri - Thane - Mumbai) okay?
2. Is it do-able in 12 hours with only a couple of breaks?
3. How to reach Andheri Metro Station?
4. A hotel with car parking facility in Andheri (E). Preferred location is near Andheri metro station.
5. How about the OYO rooms in Andheri E?
6. Good eateries on this route.
7. Good petrol pumps around Nasik.
8. Any specific precautions to be taken on this route?

I have done Bhopal - Indore multiple times and a recent trip to Maheshwar. Road are good except for Dewas byepass. I am planning to start from Bhopal at around 6 AM.

Cheers!

Entire route is excellent. Similar to Bhopal Indore.

For me it's normally 11 hours Drive Time, from MP Nagar to Thane. Add all your Break Time over it. Thane to Andheri will depend on what time of day you cross JVLR.

If you are new to Mumbai, rely on Google Maps.
Otherwise continue on Eastern Expressway till Kanjur Marg. You have to take right turn on JVLR . The best landmark for this turn is, you will see a left turn for Aeroli / Panvel . Thats the only major left turn on EE before JVLR turn. Next major right turn is JVLR . Continue on this road till end. You need to follow GMaps after this.

I understand you already know all eateries between Bhopal and Dhamnod. I normally stop at a Dhaba named Mahajan Dhaba in Shirpur. It will be on your right, just before the turn for Narsee Monjee Institute. He uses farm fresh vegetables to cook. Post Dhule, their are umpteen.

Beware of speed breakers in Maharashtra.
6 am is bad time to start as you will reach Mumbai in peak hours. JVLR will be horrible . I advice a 4 am start. If it's a no fog day, you can reach Thane in 10 hours drive time plus breaks. Use fastag for smoother toll.
