Just remembered one of the Murphy's laws: "You can not design a foolproof system, because a fool will always find new ingenius way to break the system".

Wolf, Sorry! This is not directed to you. I just remembered it and couldn't resist posting it.

Try a twin-cam 1600 GT engine. B-Zen is nothing compared to that. 130+ bhp in stock form. Plonk it in a Zen. BTW, a twin-turbo setup is also available for that engine, taking power to over 350bhp.

All in a Zen...

No, Baleno is slightly slower than a Vtec in the quarter mile. Someone said it can't even win with a 1.5 second advantage, so I said it can.

I think the Palio 1.6 is the slowest of the three. All down to weight.

Hey Viper,

Frankly speaking a baleno cant beat a 1.5L Honda City(Old) Leave alone the Vtec!

Please check BSM. Dunno which issue though, but in a straight line, the Baleno whacked the 1.5 OHC. This is a 400m scenario.

The stock VTEC will anyway cleanly beat the baleno because it develops its 106 bhp at 5000rpm
That's 6800rpm not 5000rpm!!!!

well to put forth v1p3rs view...here's wht bsm said about the baleno

"Suzuki Baleno
If Kelvinator built cars, they would look very much like the Baleno. Sorry Suzuki, your ‘big’ sedan is so good and reliable that it manages to freeze automotive enthusiasm. Suzuki is reluctant to change with times and the Baleno, coming as it does from the 1995 school of design, looks dated indeed. But again, there is nothing to beat the Baleno for no-nonsense transportation and in the Indian context, well, it beat the City 1.5 in a straight drag in our comparison test. Unlike the Suzuki Hayabusa featured here, Suzuki’s car is a good representation of what the Japanese firm has been doing on four wheels – providing value for money transportation to those who have no egos to nurse."

Also check Overdrive (June 2000 I guess) issue...Baleno had a higher Top Speed and lower 0-100 time than City 1.5 and all the other cars (It was a 5 car comparison..Balneo, Honda City, Opel Astra, Daewoo Nexia and Mitsubishi Lancer)

I don't see what the big deal is guys. We've seen such topics so many times and they've never ended with any productive results.

It's as simple as this.
1) Vtec is faster than the Baleno.
2) but, the Baleno is faster than the City 1.5

The only thing that can change this will be the driving skill of the driving behind the wheel.

But Shan2nu dont you think even a moderately amateur driver driving a vtec can milk a baleno driven be a moderately good driver??? Coz I drive both almost every other day and my observation is baleno just fizzes out bad after 100kmph...whats your say on this???
