Which car is faster? Baleno or Vtec?

Hey guys after asking a lot of people i went in for a baleno but one of my friend said the Vtec has more bhp and is more powerful than a baleno?

If yes then what should i do to make my baleno faster than a headered Vtec?

Please help me out guys....

Vtec : 106 bhp. Baleno : 94 bhp. Weight? Almost similar. Now, you can figure it out yourself. Number don't lie. (They do, but at least not in this case :-) )

Can Baleno beat Vtec? Yes. You need to heavily mod your Baleno to match/surpass Vtec. Contact "Iceman" for details.

Lets compare apples to apples, and oranges to oranges.

A stock Vtec is faster than a Baleno. And it feels even better (7200 rpm baby!!)

yeah dude your baleno can surely beat a v-tec if you modify it a bit..
there was this drag i heard about...where a heavily modified zen took a v-tec which had a complete freeflow system and a filter..
heavily modified zen...
baleno..will need just a few changes then...

The thing is that a heavily modded Baleno might beat a stock Vtec. But a heavily modded Baleno wont beat a modded Vtec if both have the same mods. So in any equal equation/scenario, VTec will still rock Baleno off the road.

You don't need "heavy" mods to beat a stock Vtec. But stock-on-stock, the Vtec is quicker in a straight line. BUT, I think the in-gear acceleration times of the Baleno are quicker than the Vtec...the roll-ons that is...

Even a stock Esteem is faster than a stock Baleno in 0-100.

Power to Weight ratio may have made it possible.
But the the moment 100 is reached , Esteem loses on power copare to the Baleno.

Speedfreak,
A VTEC is fater than baleno in terms of outright speed, but the Baleno is more driveable in cities due to its excellent low end torque especially in a city like Bangalore, where it would be difficult for you to stay in the vtec's power band. Just be happy you got a nice car don't worry about beating the Vtec
cheers,

The VTEC is faster in a straight line but having driven a regular City and then a Baleno, I feel the baleno has far better handling.
And in a track with a lot of twists and slow in's and slow out's a baleno's low end torque should help.

At the 2002 maruti autocross in delhi , the vtec came first in the 1600cc class with the baleno 2nd - but the best lap time was set by the baleno - let's not mention the guys who brought lancers..didn't make the cut at all ...

besides in a city, the baleno is far, far more drivable and fun...

And even to make a stock baleno faster than aa VTEC , I don't think it should work out more than 25-30k.... which still makes the baleno the value buy.

and you can buy them new - with a VTEC , you don;t know how the car has been driven or maintained.

If you're modding your Baleno, don't forget to upgrade the tyres!!!

the baleno is a very capable car...as someone said its very good for city riding but outright perfomance the v-tec is better.... baleno is at 94 hp, vtec at 106 ...at these levels of hp.... how the car is driven gives u a better choice...
