Hmm, sorry I'm also still on the lookout, will update this thread if I find one.
I was thinking I'd get the work done after the rains stop.

re: Home Construction / Makeover / Maintenance Thread

Off late, I am noticing a lot of cockroaches in one of the bedrooms, late at night. What could be the reason of this? No one eats or sleeps in the room. Mostly, it is used for storing stuff and like that.

What is the solution? regular pest control?

April and September are cockroach breeding seasons, so there will be a lot of them. Here are a few things that have helped me.
. Pour mild insecticide into each and every drain. Cockroaches travel and propagate through drains.
. This a good time to clean up kitchen storage areas. If possible empty the kitchen, wash it thoroughly and swipe with a strong phenyle/Dettol solution.
. This is a good time to clean up all storage areas also.
. If you are on the ground floor, then pour strong insecticide solution down all the external drain manholes.

Hi Khoj, did you get a chance to check this out? It would be very useful for me.

Hello, the cleaning liquid is called 'Sharpshooter" and is manufactured by 3M. The bottle in the office has been discarded so posting links from the web. We bought the exact same 32 oz (940 ml) bottle from the local paint & hardware shop for approximately 400 odd bucks.

re: Home Construction / Makeover / Maintenance Thread

Hello Guys.. I need a quick help here... I've got the washroom renovated. Got to put a split FRP door.
The frame dimensions are 6.25 by 2 feet.
The guy here is quoting 3800, which I feel slightly expensive.
Can someone help if I should ask some other dealer or go a head with this?

None of the local hardware shops seem to stock this - will try a wider area when I get time. However, for now I found a bottle of tile stain remover from Pidilite called Roff at a hardware shop. It costs Rs. 100 for half a liter. I tried only on a small patch till now but it seems better than anything else I have tried. Will try this on a wider area during the weekend. If it doesn't work well, will have to spread my net further to find someone who stocks sharpshooter - I even checked with 3M customer care - they directed me to a shop in Marine Lines - but that's a little too far for me.

Thanks Khoj - I didn't even know that something called tile stain remover existed - I would have never gone looking for a cleaner at a hardware store.

re: Home Construction / Makeover / Maintenance Thread

So I used some heavy duty fasteners to put up a pull-up bar. It had 4 holes on both the sides and I used two fasteners on each side and two big screws. One side is locked tightly but on the left side its a little loose. Not so loose that it'd fall down but its not as tightly locked and the screws and fasteners are a little diagnoal than being absolutely perpendicular to the wall.

Should I simply take it out and put it elsewhere or is there a way to reinforce the strength of the wall somehow and drill holes again. I think the holes got drilled a little sideways which is why the screws and fasteners went into the wall not exactly perpendicular but with a certain angle.

Interior Designer

Does anyone know a reliable interior designer in Bangalore? I am looking for someone who is value for money and can give good modern ideas to decorate my living and dining room. Someone who is familiar with metal & glass as well as marble/granite wall cladding will be good.

Thanks, Sebring! They sure look interesting. By the way, do you have any experience (first-hand or someone else's) with them?
