Beemer, I read abt the 1750 in the April edition of Autocar today. Had to come back here and tell you that you have a real gem in the collection. Now to begin saving up to have the same.

Yes arunforu1. I have built several since the early 1960s.

Basically used two kinds of material: cardboard and cellophane, for one class of models.
And plaster-of-paris for the other class (difficult curves). Technique: to cast a block and whittle away the powder with a pen-knife.

All my scratch-built models were mostly 1/24th scale models.

My last Plaster of paris one was a 1/16th scale Lamborghini Countach sculpted out of a single block of Plaster of Paris in 1978. And my last cardboard model was a 1/24th scale Ford GT-40 done last year.

well ram, nice to hear from you...i also prefer making from scratch.....
i use a lot of material options..like wood, plaster, wax, paper, metal, plastics for different parts, i prefer working fully functional concept models..rather than scaled down versions of actuals.........

I still preserve a fully functional chassis i made 10 years ago....with fully functional parts...that can take 30deg incline with 1kg load, & the size is about 10" in lenght..max 2" height.....every part custom made except wheels. But sadly body got damaged badly, so i removed it...but bare chassis still works after 10 years..flawlessly.

Thanks so much Maverick and Blackadder. Like Ive mentioned in the past, I get great encouragement when you guys appreciate my scale models. Otherwise the only people who see them are my family who barely understand what the big deal is about. Blackadder did you read it in the Indian Autocar? I need to get it now. Sorry I havnt posted new cars. One of them got a little damaged when bringing it from Dubai so Ive been really down about it.

I'll post it tonight. Got another Solido last week when a friend came down from England. So theres 2 more cars to post.

Beemer, I did read about the 1750 in the April edition of the Indian Autocar. I am keen to know about the quality of Solido cars. One of my friend has a model of the Bugatti Royale by Solido and it is so sadly out of scale. More like 1:20. I hope the damaged model is an easy fix.
