Brother Musk really is a bit of a ‘Free Radical’ it seems. But then with Great Wealth comes Great Power. Also With Great Power comes Great Responsibility but there is always the argument - Responsibility to What and Whom?

Here is the Forbes Article on this Musk take over.

In a message to advertisers on Twitter on Thursday, Mr. Musk said he was buying the company to “have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner.” He said Twitter “cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences!”
Now we will have a new tadka (flavour) to the rules of social discourse on this planet. Don’t know why I am tempted to call Mr Chief Twit, as a CPO “Chief Planet Officer” who may turn out to be a MisChief Planet Officer. Nevertheless, looking forward to entertaining evolution.

With much control, there are many instances of conversations going off-track. Not sure how we wants to be free yet control hate etc.

Hope he succeeds. But this is by far the riskiest thing he is attempting. This is not a pure technical issue that can be taken care.

Twitter CEO has lost his job, yet he is winner of this fight and not Musk

Source - India Today

An interesting perspective put forth in this article after initial hoopla started to fizz out gradually. Such a thought never crossed my naïve mind.

What are your thoughts on this Point of View? Who took the bait or got played?

Quote:
The fact that Twitter management has virtually forced Elon Musk to pay an exorbitant amount of money for the company is a win in every possible way for Agrawal.

And Parag Agrawal put every effort into enforcing the deal knowing well that as soon as Musk got the company he would be fired. But the CEO's post was not the prize here. The prize was the lucrative deal. Musk, realising that he was overpaying, tried to get out of it. He trolled and threw shades at Twitter, and its management. But Twitter and Agrawal remained focussed and didn't let him get out of the deal. This is the reason why they are the winners of this Musk-Twitter saga. Now after taking control of Twitter, Elon Musk is putting on a brave face. But reality is that he has been humbled in this corporate war.

Musk is celebrating like a kid who finally got to buy his favourite lollipop. What I don't understand is the whining and spewing of hatred from the American radical left. It's his money. If they hate him, which they do, they should be happy that he squandered his wealth. Why the whining?

It's not so simple. We must remember even though Twitter was not doing great, they were not thinking about selling. In hindsight, we can say that Musk could have offered lower, but when someone is not keen to sell, you have to entice them.

If we look at the valuations of Facebook and likes, it should be ok. But, Musk has a lot to do. In the longer run, I don't think he is going to lose anything. Besides, when you have earned money yourself, after a point, you don't worry about losing it.

If I am reading right, Tesla's valuation drop in one day was over three times the price of Twitter.

Tesla shares lost $126 Billion as Musk is buying something for $ 44 Billion

re: Elon Musk offers to buy Twitter for US$ 41 billion. EDIT: Acquires Twitter for $44 billion

Quite interesting to see lots of folks (on Twitter, where else) celebrating the firing of Parag, Vijaya and the CFO (as also the General Counsel at Twitter). But the fact is that Parag, the CFO and the GC have together delivered a fantastic deal for Twitter shareholders. Between Jan 5 and today, Facebook is down 70%, Amazon down 39%, Snap down 76%, Alphabet down 32%. Twitter shareholders have instead gained 37%. Without the deal, Twitter would likely have traded more like Snap than like Alphabet.

And as for the schadenfreude at these guys (and gal) getting fired, they have been well compensated for their effort - as this story from Marketwatch says, Parag, Vijaya and the CFO collectively take home USD 200 mm, with Vijaya (Chief Censor) getting USD 75 mm herself. May be I am giving our mods some ideas

But more seriously, shareholders, who have gained USD 36 bn (assuming the stock would have traded at USD 10 without the deal) thanks to their efforts have got a fantastic deal from their management team here.

It was never about the money, its about the power.

President Trump's notorious de-platforming was just one example of a long line of censoring any opinions outside of the left liberal/Democrat party narratives. Twitter blatantly suppressed a Hunter Biden story just before the 2020 election since it was adverse to the Bidens. During the pandemic, any opinions even mildly conflicting the Pfizer/Democratic party narratives were blocked.
That this power to shape narratives has gone now is what riles the American radicals.

That's because the voice from other side or people with different view point can now be heard. If you don't agree with the left they get triggered, they do not know concept of "agree to disagree", instead they target the people with other views and get them cancelled or banned or they go harass the company to cancel the person who is working for them.

Amen!

How many managers does it take to change a light bulb?

1) A roomful - they have to hold a meeting to discuss all the ramifications of the change.

2) None, they like to keep employees in the dark.

3) "This topic was resumed from last week's discussion, but is incomplete pending resolution of some action items. It will be continued next week. Meanwhile ..."

4) "We've formed a task-force to study the problem of why light bulbs burn out, and to figure out what, exactly, we as supervisors can do to make the bulbs work smarter, not harder."

I think the rowing team management style is a better analogy, considering the ratio.
